Because the Euro qualifying has staretd and made a huge impact in FIFA ranklings this weekends games are the last games that count before UEFA selects the group for WCQ. Just to show how dumb they are here are the teams that will be seeded for the qualifying:
The ones that make sense:
Spain
Germany
England (theyve killed the UEFA qualifying whether you want to admit it or not)
Portugal
Belgium
Netherlands
Romania???? Seriously? A seeded team
Italy or Croatia (they play today. Winner will be seeded. Loser may be.
And last but not least, mighty Wales. Thats right. The Wales team that some people said will always suck. If they beat Belgium they will be seeded for the WCQ draw. If Wales lose it will likely be Czech Republic with an outside shot of Slovakia, Switzerland, or Austria.

Seriously Romania and possibly Wales being seeded over Switzerland, France, Greece, Turkey, Iceland, Sweden, Norway, Italy/Croatia. Thats a messed up system right there.

To be fair to Wales they have a a pretty talented team right now. 2 world class players and several others who are very good.

Ashley Williams at CB who is a borderline World Class defender and has played like it over several seasons in the EPL.

Aaron Ramsey at CM who is probably a world Class player and has been awesome for Arsenal over the last several seasons

Gareth Bale at FW who is definitely World Class.

Also they have a regular starters in the EPL/Championship/SPL:
James Chester - Hull City
Chris Gunter - Reading
Adam Matthews - Celtic
Neil Taylor - Swansea City
Joe Allen - Liverpool
David Cotteril - Birmingham
Andy King - Leicester
Joe Ledley - Crystal Palace

That's a pretty solid lineup. Certainly not World Class. But I wouldn't sleep on them. A solid supporting class with a 2 great players.

Round 2 in concacaf saw a few unexpected results the last few days in the first legs:

St kitts & Nevis 2, El Salvador 2. It will take a small miracle but a one goal road win for StK&N would knock out troublesome El Salvador very early.

Curaçao 0, Cuba 0. A road goal in leg 2 will put thru curaçao and knock out Cuba.

Antigua 1, st Lucia 3. These guys gave us trouble last time but it looks like Antigua is going home.

**** Dominica 0, Canada 2. Canada going thru to round 3 (I wanted to see them go out)

July 25th will be the draw for the groups. We'll at least know what knockout round winners will be in our groups. They'll also draw for the other federations so will be a big day.

Also August 6th will be the draw for the U17 World Cup

Guatemala - Bermuda has a chance to be interesting as Bermudas Nahki Wells is known to put in a goal or two. First leg tonite along with Puerto Rico - Grenada. It would be great to see Guatemala knocked out they are always a thorn in our side.

Yea those teams are always a struggle, i remember USA had to beat Granada in a last minute Golazo by Jozy. And if Guatemala had beaten us we would of been eliminated and we were actually down at home early in that game.

Wales is actually a pretty good team at the moment. They are leading Belgium 1-0.

I haven't followed the Welsh too closely, is Henley getting close to their Senior side or might we still be able to nab him for our U23s in October?

Still hasn't been capped past the U-21 level.

I actually looked at the Wales national team page a few days ago and he's listed on the senior national team roster.

Never looked to see if he was cap-tied yet

From what I understand Henley has made the choice to play for Wales.

Curaçao got their road goal and eliminated Cuba. Antigua turned it around and won 4-1 to advance.

Curaçao, Belize, Antigua, Barbados, St Vincent and the Grenadines all go thru to round 3. The next couple days will see 5 teams join them.

Big possible upset is Bermuda v Guatemala. A one goal win for Bermuda would be enough as the first game finished 0-0 in Tegucigalpa. Remember when we used to struggle there??
