Wasn't pretty but we played well enough to deserve a win forsure. But as I said earlier it would be a battle.

Can't believe Steffen saved that. What a save and performance from him.

Acosta owes Steffen his first born.

Player went to ground a little too easy but it was still a PK and deserved yellow.

Gutted it out. Sometimes it's small things that are telling. I noticed Carter-Vickers trying to calm Acosta down after the PK but I think before he was sent off. Acosta is a former captain at youth level, Carter-Vickers is 17 and youngest guy on the team. A sign of leadership and leadership potential is how you react when things are tough. Impressed with Carter-Vickers, Miazga and Payne. And of course Rubin.

One of the first times I can remember saying the USA had better finishing than their opponent.

That was quite the half volley from Rubin - he could've lashed at it full volley and skied it over the bar easily.

Payne was great. Miazga and CCV were solid. Steffen was beast. Rubin and Arriola workhorses. Emo and Zelalem fought well. Unlucky for Acosta, but he will be ecstatic when he sees we won.

All I have to say now is quarters will be hard...

So who do you guys see coming in for Acosta at LB?? Is it going to be JRjr, Moore, or Payne with Moore at RB???

(Also- before the red card for about 10-15 mins it was a 4-3-3 with Allen up top and Rubin left instead of the other way around.... Was that a peek at the lineup with no BJ4??)

Having Ramos running the ship who knows. Could be Donovan or EPB. His stubbornness reminds me of BB

1) didnt play that well until after the goal after which colombia conceded space in the midfield....but the goal itself was against run of play and benefitted from lucky bounce....thats a problem, we need to know how to break down organized teams we can't rely on fate to carve space up for us to keep the ball. the good news is they had sequences which proved they can keep possession and link nice passes against quality possession once they find their rhythm.

2) Acostas card is the result of his starting in a role where he is liable to get burnt by teams like colombia who have good compact speedy wingers w skill. they will burn him around the outside everytime. requejo belongs there - he's a better wing back, doesnt play the man as much, and gets up the flank as well. acosta should have been the d-mid, delgado was way to frail up the middle. if they make it to semis theyll have opportunity to right this wrong, and they'll have to if they find themselves up against germany

3) defense was good w payne and miazga in there, didnt think we chased too much at least in 2nd half. colombia had very few high quality opportunities. the one ball that barrera received on the door step he was being marked by two defenders and they had to play it high up around the shins so though he was positionally close to scoring it wouldve required some strength to finish.

4) steffen is .....a beast.

I expect Thompson to start over Allen ... Seems BJV is out for an extended time, and Requejo at LB with vulnurable Delgado at DM.... Maybe Sonora could take his spot but I doubt it Ramos goes with the guys who been playing most...For some reason I feel Serbia is a bit Easier let's not forget one of their Key players also got a red card....
