Last night saw some results go the way of USL - not surprising given we are talking about charleston battery, Richmond kickers, Rochester rhinos and Pittsburgh river hounds. I saw Pittsburgh last year they are dangerous. Some decent upsets like St Louis beating Minnesota (with Ibarra and Ramirez) and the upstart Austin Astex beating San Antonio. Atlanta was dangerous last year and they are also thru. Sounders 2 v Timbers 2 was just a warmup for Seattle v Portland next round. Sounders 2 went thru, will Seattle as well (continuing their dominance)???

Here are the 4th round matchups with the home teams on the left and the stadium provided.

June 16, 7:30 pm ET, PPL Park
Philadelphia Union vs. Rochester Rhinos (USL)
June 16, 7:30 pm ET, Red Bull Arena
New York Red Bulls vs. Atlanta Silverbacks (NASL)
June 16, 8:30 pm ET, Sporting Park
Sporting Kansas City vs. Saint Louis FC (USL)
June 16, 8:30 pm ET, Toyota Park
Chicago Fire vs. Louisville City (USL)
June 16, 9 pm ET, TCU Soccer Stadium
FC Dallas vs. OKC Energy (USL)
June 16, 9 pm ET, Dick's Sporting Goods Park
Colorado Rapids vs. Colorado Springs Switchbacks (USL)
June 16, 10 pm ET, Rio Tinto Stadium
Real Salt Lake vs. Seattle Sounders 2 (USL)
June 16, 10:30 pm ET, Avaya Stadium
San Jose Earthquakes vs. Sacramento Republic (USL)
June 16, 10:30 pm ET, Starfire Stadium
Seattle Sounders vs. Portland Timbers
June 17, 7 pm ET, Richmond City Stadium
Richmond Kickers (USL) vs. Columbus Crew SC
June 17, 7 pm ET, Highmark Stadium
Pittsburgh Riverhounds (USL) vs. D.C. United
June 17, 7:30 pm ET, Shuart Stadium
New York Cosmos (NASL) vs. New York City FC
June 17, 7:30 pm ET, Blackbaud Stadium
Charleston Battery (USL) vs. Orlando City
June 17, 7:30 pm ET, Soldiers Field
New England Revolution vs. Charlotte Independence (USL)
June 17, 9 pm ET, BBVA Compass Stadium
Houston Dynamo vs. Austin Aztex (USL)
June 17, 10:30 pm ET, StubHub Center
LA Galaxy vs. PSA Elite (USASA Reg. IV)

My personal list of good games/ possible upsets:
NY Red Bulls v Atlanta
Seattle v Portland
San Jose v Sacramento
SKC v St Louis
Pittsburgh v DC
Charleston v Orlando
.... with the pick of the litter the Cascadia derby how can it not be?

Not sure if NYCFC will play their starters (MLS teams usually dont until the quarters or semis) but having one of the worst MLS teams vs the obvious best NASL team will either vindicate NASL's claims or put them to bed.

I think the Cosmos will easily beat NYCFC. And the San Jose V Sacramento should be a good one. Also why is Seattle playing Portland at Star fire stadium ?? tickets will be very hard to get for that one. I see at least 5 upsets tho not sure which ones but there will be some surprises.

That St. Louis team that beat Minnesota has long forgotten youth player, Charles Renken. Also Bryan Gaul who used to be with the Galaxy.

Did Charles Renken play?

I remember the pundits projecting him to be the next superstar for the USMNT.

So do last years results just not matter anymore?

NASL completely shit the bed last night. A few teams thought they could trot out their second team and win.

Unfortunately, you can now pretty much guarantee MLS teams will sit their starters, even if they were likely to anyway against the USL squads.

Such a shame that MLS treats one of the oldest tournaments in the world with disrespect.

So MLS sits their starters = disrespect and NASL sits their starters = good?

Got it.

I'm going tonite (Fire v Louisville) - but what of the rest of the board?? Lots of home games for everyone...

I see a Quakes v Sactown (I'm looking for one of you all to go at least) tonite as well as Dallas-OKC (Texas boys make it happen).

And tomorrow the New York matchup (richieNY??), Charleston at home (Fraser this is your time to shine), New England (do you do these msantoine?), and of course The la galaxy v Psa elite... (Tonto).

What kind of turn out can we expect from the board? Is anyone else going I didn't mention?

I havent been to a US Open cup match. Midweek games are almost impossible due to my work/home schedule

Just back from SJ v Sac...wide open entertaining game. Quakes played Wondo up top but a B/C midfield...very frustrating to watch. Quakes were down 2-0 and game back to tie it in regulation and win it in PKs.

I'll have to admit US Open Cup games are a mixed bag for me. Quakes have never prioritized them by playing the full side. It always comes down to having to watch bench players that drive me nuts.

MLS teams did the damn thing last nite....

@chris- it could be worse. Our A- team got shown up by Louisville, and the fire were lucky to escape 1-0 winners.

No upsets last nite so there will be one or two today.

Sounds like a good excuse for Juergen to stick with Bradley as his captain.
