Given gets the start over Guzan in the FA Cup Final. I was really looking forward to this game to see Guzan have his moment in the sun. Now I hope Arsenal torches them. Not sure I'll watch the whole game.

Hard to see Guzan as the USMNT starter this summer. I hope Hamid gets more opportunities.

I cannot fathom how Hamid is not yet at least our clear #2. We keep talking about this but I still think Juergen has him as #4 currently behind Guzan, Rimando and Yarbrough. We'll see which three make the Gold Cup.
Assuming that we qualify for the Olympics this fall, we really should bring one of our talented younger keepers as an overage player next summer. I'd rather give Hamid, Johnson or Yarbrough the Olympic experience between the sticks over Cropper. Cropper can be their back up.

JK likes to prop up guys careers by giving them opportunities with the national team. I would not be surprised to see Guzan as the #1 keeper for the Gold Cup or maybe only for the group stage. A good showing would go a long way to help Guzan get a new club. I am guessing Guzan, Rimando, Hamid for keepers this summer.

Good point Kamphgruppe, Brek Shea is the perfect example in the 2013 Gold Cup.

Brek Shea wasn't a starter for most of that tournament though.

Right but he was still an integral part of the team and conventional wisdom would have said that he had no business making the team having not played competitively for several months.
Still, Juergen had faith to call him up and stick with him. I'd have to go back and review the results but I seem to remember Shea looking awful in his first performance and all of us fuming that Juergen was playing him. Only for him to end up scoring the tournament winner.

I can't believe that Guzan won't be our #1, surely Jurgen doesn't rate Rimando over Guzan if they are both healthy. I don't believe that. Regarding his two backups- Rimando like it or not will be the #2, and by form it should be Hamid as the #3. Although the fact that he would be just the 3rd keeper, and that MLS is in midseason- I could see Hamid (and to a lesser extent Johnson) being behind a guy (Yarbrough) who is off for the summer. Not like the #3 ever plays- and if there is a group stage injury, Hamid or Johnson could join the team then.

Villa and Given got torched for 4 goals. I am guessing Guzan will have the opportunity to earn his spot back next preseason.

Thank you Toulon tournament. He should dress every game. They have a young not quite good enough for Italy goalie as there number 1. Played the last year and a half.
