Hollingshead has been playing well so far but I would like to see if he can keep his play up for a whole season. Dillion Powers is playing at his usual high level the FC Dallas game he killed it. He has a very good workrate on both the offensive and defensive side of the ball. I would like to see him and Shipp on the 35 man preliminary list for the gold cup.

agree with all of that. realistically, though, hard to see powers or shipp really breaking through till 2016

I could really see Powers turning into a great DM a la Beckerman. Except Powers is a bit more athletic than Kyle is.

I seriously doubt that we see any new introductions into the Player Pool until after this summers Gold Cup. JK and his staff have called in a number of newer players into camps over the last 6 months and the number of regular pool players playing at a high level if very high.
Since winning this GC will insure our participation in the Confed. Cup in 2017 there is limited reason to experiment until after the GC.

missed you guys. im sure feeling is mutual

obviously this debate is settled for time being...

diskerud is predictably struggling while kljestan is predictably thriving. did not take a rocket scientist to understand that a guy who was decent but not particularly great in norway was going to struggle with big step up to MLS.

yes, its an adjustment and yes its an expansion team, but mix has just not been particularly good - culminating in his early exit from NY derby

in same game sacha produced game-winning assist. he has been good and NYRB has been better than expected.

the point is not that sacha should be a USMNT player, its that mix should not. the best attacking CM options are pretty clear and mix is not one of them.
in no particular order the best options are:
- feilhaber
- kljestan
- nguyen
- powers

take your pick. ultimately the point is that JK has no clue what he is doing. Its one thing for fans to not have a clue but is another for the coach to be so clueless

cant wait to watch a struggling / mediocre MLS player continue to get significant mins for USMNT

Always been a big Feilhaber fan so you won't get any disagreements from me there. I think there might be some 'attitude' issues there. FWIW, I generally don't give a shit about fuzzy 'attitude' issues if someone is one of the best 23 (I assume any pro athlete is insanely focused on winning once they step on the field), but JK certainly does.

You're right of course...Mix hasn't shown he can play at the international level at all...

Ugh. such a lame argument. Mix is the only one to get consistent playing time in last 4+ years

any decent player who gets lots of mins with NT will have some bright moments. its not evidence that he is a better player than guys who are more productive / effective in the same league

"international level"? is that what people are calling CONCACAF these days?

Have to agree but Kljestan is playing better than Diskerud so far. Norway is below MLS competition, and NYCFC are struggling as well while the Red bulls seem to be the team still in NY/NJ.

During the game Sunday I was thinking about how painful it must have been for you given that Sacha was solid and NYCFC was horriible until Mix came off. You must have done a little dance in the absence of YA. Welcome back!

I like mix but I feel that every us player should be held accountable when in poor form plus he is in a pretty strong position in the mls. I agree with Rain on this one. I would like to see Nyugen get some more time he showed well in the Colombia game and made a play that not many players can do in mls. Plus klijestan has been impressive with NYRB and would be a good call up . Feilhaber I like but I dont see klinsmann calling him up. Powers wont be called up because Klinsmann will probably call him up next january. So Klijestan and Nyugen are the 2 that could replace mix my money is on nyugen has been called up a lot and has shown well when he has been on the field.

I agree Mixx shouldn't be considered a week in/week out starter as we have many other CMs that arent struggling. But Lee isnt one of them. Nothing he's done in 2015 is deserving of US call ups. Id rather see Powers or Feilhaber. Actually the way Jones has been playing he should still be in there until the other guys step up.

No, it's not a lame argument. Mixx hasn't done anything to justify getting knocked out of his position on the MNT. He's had numerous games where he was the best US player on the pitch (Czech Republic for instance). Your pathological need to de-value his contributions at the national team level is ridiculous at this point.

The same could of been said about Beckerman, had not done anything to get knocked off his starting role with the MNT. Always playing and at a consistent level. I just Don't see Mix starting by 2017/2018. He will decline slowly and others will come in and make a statement say Nagbe for example.

Beckerman is pretty much still a regular.

And we're talking about now, not 2017-18. You could very well be right. But as it stands, Mix hasn't done anything for the Nats that warrants a change.
