Dude give the kid time. He is what 18? Most defenders take a bit longer to develop, especially CB's.

19* and he will be 20 this year. Being on the bench on any team really isnt good for young players. Would love to see him loaned out if he isnt going to get significant minutes. Kind of what his partner in crime Miazga went through

I actually thought he played ok the 1st half. Remember the team he was playing wasn't FC dallas i.e. Zusi

Granted I only saw the 1st half but thought he looked confident. One thing I really like was he was composed on the ball, there was sequence in the box where the ball came to him and an attacker was closing in on him and he calmly passed the ball to the mid.
9/10 defenders boot that ball upfield. Yes, there was one time he had bad positioning and earned a yellow but he did have the speed to actually catch up to the guy and break the play up.

I wouldn't be to down on him in fact I would prefer him over gonzo, hedges (even though I liked hedges) and of course of the likes of zusi.

he looks like he will be a special player if he can start to get 90 mins in consistently

Maybe a loan will help.

Its clear Poch wants him to be the 3rd CB (could be a starter if Dier gets moved). Even if he's the 3rd CB thats a step up and I'd prefer him stay with spurs in that role. He'd be an injury away from serious minutes. He'll learn from some top class players. He'll get some games due to the cups and UCL (would almost assuredly get some UCL group stage games). Last year he was their 4th choice at CB. If he's their 3rd choice this year he'll likely get 5-10 starts in EPL, 1-2 starts in UCL, all/most Cup matches, and a handful of substitution appearances (sub in for a more attacking mid when holding a lead late and play as CDM).

Id rather that role (if he wins it) then playing in the Championship, Scotland, or League One

I thought he looked fine last night. Diego Perotti is a very skilled player who was running at CCV, and Dzeko is a very strong player who tried to body him up. In neither case did CCV really impose himself, but he didn't look outmatched either. imo that's a small success.
