Seattle looked really good tonight after week 1 there were a couple of teams that showed well and a couple others that I am wondering about them.

The Good

Seattle crushed new england albeit without jones and nyugen. However I am still impressed they controlled the game and played like an mls cup winning team. Dempsey and Martins slick passing opens up defenses like no other.

Toronto this will be the year they make the playoffs. They played vancouver even in the first half however the second half was all toronto. Vanney with the tactical adjustments allowed toronto to dominate vancouver.

LA Galaxy showed they are still a top team with a dominating performance of chicago. Jose Villareal showed well and Robbie Keane had another great game.

Houston played columbus very tightly and ended up with the win through the goalkeeping of Deric and superb barnes strike. Questions will be asked of their ability to play like this week in and week out.

The Bad

New England even without Nyugen and Jones should have made the game a little more competitive. Defensive might be a worry in the future. Also questions will be asked of the players who arent nyugen or jones will they be able to repeat last seasons performance or will a slight dip happen.

Chicago still doesnt have the talent to compete in the playoffs. Losing to la isnt the worst loss but it illustrated similar problems to last season. The gulf in class was clear and it will take a lot of good coaching to get them to a playoff spot something that I dont expect to happen.

San Jose lack of creativity, passing a team that would be relegated in europe. But they can stay in mls and keep the basement warm.

Philadelphia while not losing isnt the worst thing in the world. It is concerning that they arent able to get wins at home against opposition that didnt offer much in attack. Philadelphia looked way to comfortable for a 0-0 draw making backpasses for dats. If you cant beat teams like colorado at home you arent making the playoffs that simple. A deja vu of last season could beat teams like kc but fail to beat teams like colorado or san jose.

Nice to see my Sounders getting off to a good campaign in very dominant fashion.

Well thought out scheduling by MLS, Seattle vs NE was a great way to cap off the weekend. Getting things started with the defending champions on Friday was a good move and pitting Montreal and DC against each other given that they both played mid-week was a sensible decision.

I noticed that ESPN was advertising games on FS1 and vice versa, the MLS must have a provision in their TV contracts that says the networks will pitch all upcoming MLS games irrespective of network. I've never seen these networks reference each other before. It was strange to see ESPN basically saying "don't forget to turn the channel off of ESPN to FS1 following this game in order to enjoy more MLS games."

Should be interesting to see what the ratings were for the games today. Hopefully it increases with a set specific day for nationally televised games.

The new DC stadium will do wonders for United's attendence figures. I want to see a big DP pickup by United to go along with the new stadium. Fabian Johnson is an ideal DP target.

539K viewers for OCSC-NYCFC, 100K more than any broadcast on ESPN2 last season

268K for SKC-NYRB

289K for SSFC-NER

Big boost for FOX. We should have another thread on their coverage

LA-CHI got 341K for the season opener on Unimas

Great ratings for the first weekend.

What about on ESPN Deportes for the NYCFC v OCSC ? And on Fox Deportes for the KC v NY, Seattle vs revolution ? I'm sure if you add those ratings it will be higher. Also on another note the average attendance for week 1 was 25,838. Could of been more if Seattle would of had 60k plus and the poor DC turnout but good weekend nonetheless. Week 2 should be another good one in attendance and ratings also.
