Oh, and that 3rd goal by Lloyd was awesome! Don't think I've ever seen a woman score from half field!

I will give credit to Jill Ellis and her stuff they stuck with Brian in midfield and drew up some really nice corner kicks against japan. The pressing was the biggest tactical advantage the us had over japan. Japan looked shell shocked against it. Carli Lloyd had the game of her life great win!!!

Yeah Jill Ellis finally made the right move in formation and player personnel. She has definitely earned the right to stay as the USWNT coach.

I've really enjoyed watching this team throughout the tournament, especially the back line. The team played so well after Wambach was removed from the starting lineup and Lloyd started playing a more attacking role.

The announcers said something at the ceremony that irked me, it was the comment about whether Wambach, Rampone and Boxx will decide to stay on for the Olympics or whether they will decide to go out on a high. The fact that it was stated as if Jill Ellis must follow whatever they want bothered me. All three have had fantastic careers but Rampone and Boxx should not be on the Olympic squad and I really hope Wambach decides to hang it up.

Wambach is still a goal scoring threat but the team collectively played so much better without her. With Morgan, Leroux, Press, Rodriguez and Horan coming through the ranks there is no longer a need for an old Wambach. Jill Ellis needs to make the right decision for the team irrespective of what the players want to do.

I do realize I will get some grief on this website of what I am about to say, but I wanted the game to be closer just to be that more exciting...Although I know its a good score line and great game by the US, just hoped Japan played better to push them to the edge to see how they reacted. Oh well, congrats to the team.

Now, on to something stupid I had read about, how are people going to say the women's team can beat the men's team and are way better?! People are pretty damn stupid if they compare, if the rest of the world cared about women's soccer than the US would take on a lot of stronger opponents and competition.

Japan had a lot of their old players from the last cycle and I said USWNT was going to win 3-1

If you remember when the US lost in 2011, the US just couldn't finish their chances and they should've won. They hit the post like 3 times and missed another few opportunities to score. Japan got lucky last time.

That was an awesome win and a great game to pound beers to...such a feel good ride. The back line was dominant all tourney...nice to see Sauerbrunn getting some notice the last couple days...she's a maestro...my favorite player.

We have enough depth on the team to allow Wambach and Rampone to still be part of the roster...It would be nice if Boxx moved on. With the Olympics just a year away, you'd need dynamite to get Wambach off the roster.

Lloyd got to play where she's happiest and just crushed it. Which we badly needed because Morgan's finishing form was just not there. Scary to imagine a team with an in form Morgan, Brian's distribution and our stellar back 5.

That third star is going to look beautiful over the crest.

The 3rd star actually looks horrible because of the 3 random stars inside the crest

This would be what is known as a First World (of women's soccer) problem. Great job from the U.S. women, big time performance from Carli Lloyd.

Awesome to see crowds lined up for the UWNT in NTC. I can only imagine what the crowds will be for the USMNT if they ever win their first WC. Soccer has grown leaps and bounds in 10 years. I don't remember the 99 group getting tinker tape parade.

If the men's were to win a WC they would get like 10 Parades all over the country. And millions upon millions would come out.

It would be insane if the Men were to win the World Cup. Perhaps the most celebrated US Men's team EVER...in ANY Sport.

It would be the most celebrated event in US History.. Bigger than winning a World War.
