For Rain's enjoyment...

"I always think about the national team. I still think I can help the national team in different ways," Kljestan said. "Yes, it has been frustrating over the years, playing a lot of big games in the Champions League, playing in Champions League three times in a row, establishing myself in Europe as a consistent starter. I thought I did a lot of things to warrant maybe a few more chances with the national team, but it's out of my control.

"I'm doing everything I can possible to have the national team coach recognize my talent, to hopefully see that I can be an asset to his team," Kljestan said. "Obviously I hope to have a very good season in MLS and get recalled to the national team at some point in the next year.

"I'm just going to do my part and hope to force (Klinsmann's) hand to select me basically."

It would be pretty amazing if Sacha lights up the league and works his way back into the MNT picture. It would undermine everything Juergen has ever said.

I like the article. I've always enjoyed Sacha, and he's typically been played out of position for the NT. I really hope he lights it up as well. Maybe this season I'll actually be forced to pick an MLS team, especially considering how many MNT players we have spread out in the league. I'm actually excited to watch this season.

Hard to play him in his actual position when we've got Bradley. Just bad timing for him really. I expect him to have more of an impact than Mix will across town.

seems like a bit of a long shot at this point but love the ambition. clearly he will be playing with a pretty big chip on his shoulder.

might be a tough situation to shine as brightly as he would like to - a lot of turnover for NYRB this offseason, from management to coach down through the roster.

one thing that is hard to argue is that sacha is a proven winner - the ONLY seasons Chivas made playoffs were the 4 full seasons sacha was there and then did nothing but win league crowns in belgium. if NYRB manages to remain a playoff team this year SK will be looking good

dont think it would be unfair to put he and mix under a microscope... if mix is not at (or above) kljestians level it will be hard to justify mix's inclusion in MNT

people like to say SK got his chances and failed, but SK was never afforded the type of opportunities that JK is giving mix right now - starting all 7 games since WC...
