Apologize for the vague Topic Title, but, unless I missed it, I doubt we're going to see a separate section for the NASL any time soon. (Which is a shame)

NASL continues to make waves in the American soccer scene over the past couple years, with maybe this past year causing the most noise, so it shouldn't be ignored here.

We all know about Miguel Ibarra (Minnesota United) who continues to get the call up from Klinsmann.

Most recently, former Ft Lauderdale Strikers Forward Fafa Picault (23yo American) signed a contract with Sparta Prague. He was the second leading scorer behind Christian Ramirez last year. Just another Yank Abroad to keep an eye on.

I assume everybody knows the NY Cosmos signed Raul by now. As happy as I am to have him playing in my backyard, what i'm most excited about is that he was also brought in to head up the Cosmos Youth Academy.

Another "rumor" is the FTL Strikers will be bringing in a few Corinthians players for the upcoming 2015 season.

Anybody else support an NASL club? Any other stories brewing up?

Hard to really follow the league since never get to see them play on tv. Last year I found a couple Cosmos games on MSG or YES sports I think but that's it.

Used to live near the RailHawks so I'm big on NASL. They are behind the eightball in terms of media and exposure for obvious reasons but they are essential for the future of American soccer. There has to be a strong alternative to MLS. Over time that will help ensure that players have an opportunity to be paid something close to market wages.

Ronaldo said he wants to play some games with the Ft Lauderdale Stikers this season. He last played in 2011 and blimped up at the end of his career but a hell of a player in his prime (a long long time ago).

Yeah I heard about this too. He said he knows he would have to get into shape and that if the Strikers make the final, he would possibly suit up. For everybody's sake, I hope this doesn't happen.

Cosmos are making a big splash down in Philly today. Raul, Pele, and the coaching staff are there. I think they're having a discussion forum for NSCAA convention.

Latest Cosmos rumor: Samuel Eto'o - disucussions are ongoing but they seem far apart at the moment.

I heard a NASL rumor that Carmelo Anthony (NBA all star forward for those not in the hoops know) wants to buy an NASL team in Puerto Rico. Maybe NASL will be smart and instead of fighting MLS in USA (a losing fight) they'll focus on the Caribbean. I believe Antigua and Barbuda already has a team in NASL, or used to.Would be a good way to grow the game there and could have like 8 teams on East Coast and some southern US states (Ft Lauderdale, Miami, Carolinas, Texas) and like 8 teams in Carribean (Antigua, DR, PR, Haiti, Cuba, etc). May not get the tv exposure but if they start to "discover" carribean talent and start sending guys to Euro clubs it would be positive exposure for them
