Report out that Yedlin is moving to Newcastle and may be a permanent transfer.

Awesome. My favorite team in England. He needs first team soccer regardless if Newcastle is in the Championship. Newcastle generally is back up in the EPL within a season.

Its a pretty good move its permanent and newcastle usually goes back up pretty quickly. Also Janmaat is rumored to be leaving for a pretty decent fee so i am guessing its like for like switch.

They should go after Santiago Muñez and Gavin Harris and they will be in the Premier in no time!

I agree why downgrade a league down when he had proven he belongs in the Epl. Im sure there are several mid to low table Epl teams that can use his services.

But if those teams are satisfied with their fullbacks, they're not gonna buy one just to buy one.

Janmaat is off to Watford, so *fingers crossed* Yedlin will slot in as the starting right back.

Some times you have to take a step down in order to move up. Yedlin will be a success with Newcastle.

Unnnggghhhh, I loathe Mike Ashley. He doesn't deserve to have a team.

I do agree with this sentiment. However, with Rafa Benitez at the helm, I think they'll be back up next season.

One step forward, two steps back

Also and this is based of sunderland fans but some fans thought the price was too high wonder how much club feel that way... thought PL had more money
Only Prem interest was Hull city

If he can't start at Newcastle then he should drop in the RB depth with the MNT. I mean if Eric Lijah is a full time starter at RB in the championship for the past couple years then he should get a look over Yedlin if he isn't getting much playing time at Newcastle.

Great to see a decent price being paid for him as 6.6 mill is near top level for a Championship caliber team. Also they are signing him to a new 5 year deal which I love to see as well. 5 years means after the 2018 World Cup he still has some term left which gives Newcastle bargaining power in a transfer and will drive his price up (assuming he plays well for US). It also means worst case he turns out a Lichaj/Ream type career.

Especiallu if we consider 2022 as the World Cup that US should compete to win (with 2018 being the World Cup we expect to look competitive and show we belong) then this keeps him in England through 2020-21 at which time he should be a key leader for USA as opposed to now through 2018 where he'd be expected to be a starter but not a leadership role (2018 we'll have Guzan/Fab/Bradley for leadership and then be transitioning to Brooks/Yedlin/Wood)
