I wonder if rossitter moving to Rangers if that helps Lennon make the squad. Liverpool always has 1-2 young guys for cup weeks and the like. Maybe he can get in 5-10 matches.

Beautiful goal by Lennon against Porto B; Erik Palmer-Brown, was a 59' sub for Porto.

I am really looking forward to this cycles U-20 players...even more than those of the last group. There are some very talented players in this age bracket.

Good to see EPB is recovered from his broken foot and starting to see the field again.

Well as long as Tab Ramos actually plays Lennon.

Brooks Lennon is getting a lot of praise from the Liverpool coaches and supporters. Won't be surprised if he starts training with the first team soon. Klopp is big on rewarding talented youth players.

Last cycle- everyone got a chance to play. The skill level and talent of many of the players meant certain talents like Gooch got left behind for a Maki Tall for example. That could easily happen again this cycle, because as in last cycle, some talented players will be left out at the end. When the roster size is that small and the player pool is that big, it has to happen.

Who would play ahead of Brooks Lennon if that happened?

So far Lennon has been a bit part player for the u-20's. Saucedo is talented, but he shouldn't be an every 90 minute game player. England commentators were commenting about that in the last u20 friendlies in England. While they saw that Saucedo is talented they felt Ramos should have used Lennon more.

The improvement in the quality of our players and the increase in the number of young players imbedded in good clubs is making our youth teams more competitive. The fact that Youth international competitions limit the number of roster spots makes the competition even more difficult. Therefore players who can play in multiple positions take precedence over those who are maybe deemed to be one dimensional.

Considering that clubs aren't required to release players for youth competitions it is important that the coach try and build the team around players he knows he'll have available to him during qualifying. MLS & Liga MX clubs have a better history of releasing youth players than the European clubs do so it may be possible that Tab is favoring those players. You have to plan for what you know you'll have while keeping the hope alive that you'll be able to get the others released.

if this is the case why hasnt he gotten a chance yet even like a league cup match. If he has been doing well i would have thought that he would have gotten a chance already. Gets games if he goes to RSL but bit disappointing imo

This is a good move for him. Why don't MLS teams do this more often?

Uh, because guys (young and old) often want to challenge themselves and go to (or stay in) Europe. There's a reason Brooks went to Liverpool rather than staying in the U.S. I'm sure he thought about it a lot. I say get that shit on the resume then get the fuck outta that hell hole. God, northern England. Sweet Jesus.

The scouting is tricky though. Need to find that guy who is maybe undervalued over there for some reason. Or maybe feeling a little homesick. I mean Brooks sure as shit wouldn't leave Liverpool if he thought he had a good chance of making 1st team appearances soon.

But I do love the move for MLS. Legit's move to LA was a probably a win/win. And you'd have to think expansion teams are good for a couple of overseas Americans. Progress measured in decades, guys. It's happening before our eyes. Realize that you're living through it.
