Where is all of this Chandler love coming from? I get that he's getting playing time but for me the RB spot is still Fabian's to lose. Chandler has not played well for the US, admittedly he's mostly been used at LB but he only looked average when he played RB against Honduras in October.

Fabian needs to get playing time with his club but he's in a similar situation in Gladbach to Jozy in Sunderland and Jozy has yet to lose his place.

If Fabian regains the form he showed this summer what more do we want? Sure Yedlin has some tantalizing attributes and if he does well in London and steals the position great, but in my mind RB is still Fabian's position until somebody grabs it or Fabian really sh*ts the bed. I don't think either has happened yet.

Fabian Johnson ???? First of all the man plays mostly on the left side Club wise. And Secondly the guy isn't getting much playing time and it doesn't look good for him going forward. I will not even have him close to starting if he is not playing heck maybe not even off the bench. As of now Garza is our most trusted LB and RB is wide open but i know Yedlin will prevail very well at Tottenham so as of now I'm giving him the nod at RB but that could change in a hurry. I have so many sleepers in that position that even yedlin could fall out of the top 5 at RB come the gold cup.

I think you only play stop-gap players if you absolutely have to.

On the other hand, isn't it this Gold Cup that determines the 2017 Confed Cup?

Altidore. Dempsey slightly withdrawn but still 4-4-2.

Fab J. Bradley. Bedoya. Williams (playing in back, a narrow diamond with Bradley top, the others left (J) and right (B), this is all action).

Garza. Brooks. Orozco. Chandler.

Guzan.

7 man bench: Johansson, Rubin, Yedlin, Trapp, Jones, Nguyen, Sean Johnson.

This is my team, not what JK will do. But I like the team I just picked, obviously.

I don't know that Dempsey and Johannson would work. Too similar in style.

Morales plus Bradley would seem to be the type of 2 DM set up that people have hated.

If Jozy switches teams (and likely if he doesn't), I see him starting.

Jozy - Dempsey/Johannson

Bedoya - MB - Mix - Johnson

Garza - Brooks - Jones - Yedlin

Guzan

Nope. The winner of this Gold Cup plays the USA in a 1 game play off in September of 2015 to determine who goes to the Confed Cup.

If the US wins this Gold Cup then they go to the Confed cup regardless.

I don't see how RB is Fabian's to lose when he never play's the position for Gladbach, and is currently riding the pine. Fabian was awful against Colombia and Ireland, and his form is in a hell of a downward spiral. While Chandler has been very good for Frankfurt. For me Chandler is the starting RB for the USMNT.

Fabian started as LM against Colombia and everybody including Chandler was awful against Ireland. My issue with Chandler is that he's average at best every time he puts on the US jersey.

Fabian at RB has been one of Juergen's most shrewd decisions. I didn't like it at the time but he absolutely proved me wrong. I agree that Fabian needs to get playing time with his club that's critical to keep his form but his best position for the US is RB.

The 2013 and 2015 Gold Cups jointly determine the 2017 Concacaf Confederations Cup representative. If we win the 2015 Gold Cup we go to Russia in 2017. As 2013 Champions if any other team wins the 2015 Gold Cup then its a one game playoff at a TBD venue to determine who goes to the Confederations Cup.

So many moving parts. All good lineups. Here's mine:

-----Jozy----

Fabian---Clint---Yedlin

----Bradley----Morales---

Garza---Brooks---Jones---Chandler

------Guzan-----

This Morales train is at the station folks. We need a dog at DM to pair with Bradley. This is even more pressing with Jones at CB for the foreseeable future.

It'll be interesting to see where Mix ends up. I think him and Nguyen will battle to backup Clint or even be an 8 to Bradley's 6.

I believe we need a clarification...are we talking about the preliminary rounds or the elimination rounds? As I recall CONCACAF allows for changes to the roster between rounds and I doubt that JK will include a number of players in the preliminary rounds.

I also don't see Deuce as a shoo-in for the squad. JK can afford to gamble having won the 2015 GC and he will probably play newbies and fringe players in the early rounds...and if some play well he may opt not to bring in some of the more established players.

He was moved to RB and was still bad.

NO way JK play's and picks a team full of inexperienced players. The fanbase will be all over him if he does that and then gets knocked out early. It's a competitive tournament, and Dempsey is still the USMNT's best FWD.

I doubt Jurgen is worried about fan reaction at this point 2tone, although I agree he will bring Dempsey because he is the top dog at forward.
