How about Maryland? What a fucking program. I guess Sacha never had any interest in going to the pros, but you'd have to think he'd be successful. Is there a school with more current professional players?

Don't lickert and Stanko play for the reserve team as well at Freiburg?? Good to have an American contingent there, and at Dortmund too.

You wonder if having a german coach has any influence on youth players going to Germany

Stanko yes, but Lickert moved to a lower club in the 3. Bundesliga.. Freiburg replaced him with another American tho at CDM, Ethan Sonis from FC Dallas.

Not surprised to see Steffen move abroad, he is a top goalkeeper prospect.

Yeah Steffen is one of the most talented GK's the US system has produced since Tim Howard. I wish him the best of luck.

Steffen signed by the Columbus Crew as a discovery signing. Leaving Freiberg.

Dont they have Clark still?

Every possible competition for Horvath is leaving Europe. He'll be automatic backup for every away game and likely get some starts if Guzan rides the pine

Really suck Zack didnt stay in Europe but if were known for anything is producing goalkeepers. Any any player say pulisic or hyndman were to move back to MLS would be a hit but Zack just needs real pro minutes. Hope he can go back to Europe soon.

Clark is good but is prone to mistakes. Steffen is very young and promising. If he's the no. 1 in a few years, he'll be right on the fast track back to Europe.

Awesome. Love seeing talented American players deciding to come to MLS to ply their trade. My guess he just didn't like being in Germany or he had a falling out with Frieburg. He was promoted to the first team.

I will ask a naive question and not meant to be snippy so don't take it that way. I have season tickets in mls so I support it. I understand the enthusiasm to be able to see usnt players close to home but is it better for our NT program and player development to have them back in mls or in Europe? Bradley and Altidore seem to say not; growth of mls of course better to have all these players here. If you feel it is better to have players here rather than second tier or second division leagues in Europe please articulate why.

Nothing wrong with having young talented players plying their trade in MLS and in some European teams. I am for both.
