This book keeps getting more intriguing. Wow what he said about JK, no wonder the team performed bad in 3 out of 4 wc games he pretty much had them burned out before the wc. He treated the players like his own guinea pigs.

I said it again and again and again that our players were over-trained for World Cup. Few choose to believe it.

Athletes always come out with stuff in their books to generate publicity and attention. Brad Friedel is an absolute class act and should be given the benefit of the doubt.

And the extra time against Belgium?

Aside from Germany we looked the fittest of any team at the cup.

That's when when we lost the game in extra time. It was 0-0 at end of regulation and fitness came into effect in Over time and we lost.

Did you watch the game? In the second period of AET we almost came back from two goals down and it was the best we played all game...the amount of energy the players somehow still had at the end of the game was unbelievable.

Yes but they didn't. Aside from that we were lucky to go into extra time but so were they on the Wondo Blunder. You forget once they were up 2-0 they change tactics and sort of parked the bus in the last 15 Mins any coach would of done that. Defend the lead.

Got to agree with the kid on this one-- Besler didn't look so fit when he fell to the ground on their first goal. He was too tired to do what he did, which was to challenge lukaku by the midfield line. Oops, he fell, we lost.

Gotta say, if Landon got sent home for his time off, what's so different about Howard this time?? After he's out long enough, perhaps Jurgen looks elsewhere and slaughters another "sacred cow" of US soccer. Sabbatical my ass, I'm starting to not believe it.

Interesting point. Why is national team sabbatical okay, but national team/club team sabbatical NOT okay? I suppose we don't have any qualifiers coming in, that's one difference. But Howard isn't even mentioning mental health medical problems, he is essentially just wanting to relax. I would think Jurgen should have a problem with it.

Besler didn't look good vs De Bruyne because he's really good and Matt plays for Sporting KC. The same for the Lukaku goal. And also he came on fresh as a sub. There wasn't much he could do on either. Maybe got more support from teammates. We also had a much more grueling road than Belgium to get to that point (travel and opponents).

The difference is that Landon took time off during critical World Cup qualifiing games and Howard is taking time off when we have nothing but friendlies looming.
