According to the MLS website it did! He's now tied Ralston!

http://matchcenter.mlssoccer.com/matchcenter/...

They initially listed it as unassisted and while the credit for the goal is all on Keane after Landon's pass nobody touched the ball besides Keane on its way into the back of the net. It's an assist. They made the right call.

Donovan. Classic, and here most of us thought he was washed up. Glad he's finishing his career on a high note. I always knew he played well when it mattered.

Landon has quietly put up MVP caliber numbers this season: 10 goals and 18 assists. In my opinion Keane and Bradley Wright-Phillips are ahead of him and have pulled away from the pack as the only real candidates at this point but I think Landon's in that next tier of candidates with the likes of Obafemi Martins, Dom Dwyer, Dempsey, Valeri, Zardes, etc. He's probably ahead of a number of those guys too.

I hope so. I hate to see him hang it up at 32 when he's still so dominant. His assist on the Zardes goal was classic Donovan. Even if he stays with the Galaxy I'd be thrilled for him to Favre it up and unretire. It looks like he's having fun out there.

i would suggest that the biggest reason LD decided to retire is that he is simply done with having german coaches telling him he is not good enough - leverkusen x 2, bayern, and the icing on the cake - klinsmann with USNT - what an a-hole and what an insult to the most productive US player ever

shouldnt have ended quite like this

It hasnt been talked about due to Zardes Keane and LD being this three headed dragon that destroys all lands but Omar Gonzalez has been a Defender of the Year candidate since returning from the World Cup.

yes

its one thing that JK denied LD the opportunity to produce his best moments of 2014 on the biggest stage (and USMNT fans the opportunity to witness them), but another that JK and his marginal contribution to the program continues to obstruct and influence LD

LD currently, at the end of his career, is vastly superior as a player than JK has been or ever will be as a coach.

the germans won a world cup in 1990 in italy and again in 2014 in brazil

semifinalists as host in 2006? yawn
1 win in 4 games in brazil? zzzzz

the point is that LD continues to expose JK as a terrible evaluator of personnel

0 meaningful games between now and russia 2018. (oh, except for 6 or 7 games v mexico)... JK has proven he will make massive selection mistakes (wondo???)

never too early to find reasons to put the heat on JK as means of finding a competent manager ASAP

I wish LD went to Brazil. I actually think he could have made a difference. But whats done is done. We all know JK and LD had their problems. Despite what Jk says, Brazil was handled with 2018 in mind. I don't think JK didn't rate LD. Whatever his reasons were, it wasn't to do with talent.

I wont go to the LD vs JK thing cause its old and done and dusted but I will say this theory.

Landon has saved his best for last. Landon looks like old Landon and you wonder if he was saving all this energy for the World cup. But since he didnt go he will put all that energy to going out with MLS cup,
Just a theory he seems like a beast in every game atm. Pretty darn sure he would have gone to the last world cup and done the same. end of theory

Haha man Jzaval01 all the LD people were thinking this, and it's easy to discount because, you know, how can you prove that he WOULD have performed better at the WC. My biggest thing was that we weren't a team with the depth to be able to leave talent like that at home. And just before anyone jumps in here saying I should be happy with the teams performance, I am, for the most part.

Donovan should be able to break this record. If he Favres it up for a few more seasons I won't be unhappy either. He does look like he is having fun. Great to see him brushing the dirt off his shoulders.

@Dimo I agree with you JK came to the world cup with 2018 on his mind what I find ridiculous more than half won't be there he probably himself might not be there. And even worst what if USA doesn't make it out of group stage it will be something extremely staggering. But hey in 2018 for JK is world cup champions or Bust!!! If he makes it that far. Thank You Landon!!!!!

With talent that special and rare in our pool, I wouldn't care if he couldn't train at 100% for five days out of the week as long as he performed like he does.. He knew he could have done it in Brazil, I mean, we know our own body's limits and capabilities.
