In @blaises defense- saief at least mentioned a desire to play for the USA. His other ones like the Parker Bros and Toljan are more ridiculous.

Lots of guys would want to play for the US setup. Fact remains, Saief isn't that young anymore; is still playing a second (at best) tier league; and didn't get off the bench for Israel's last qualifier. That doesn't exactly scream quality to me and certainly doesn't merit a look over Bedoya.

To me Sayef falls in the same category as guys like Bjorn Mars Johnson. If he wasnt a dual national no one would be asking to bring him in. When thats the case, and they are already past the youth set up then there's no point in bringing him in. What should Sayef start over Bradley now? Pulisic? We have guys like Green & Gooch knocking on the door. Those are the guys that people should be looking to see.

Sayef has played with Israeli national teams/youth teams since he was 15 years old. He played with Israel at every youth level from U16 through U21. At no point did he represent the USA. Just because the guy was born here doesnt mean he wants to play for USA. He's the exact opposite of CCV. Thinking Sayef should play for us is like thinking CCV should play for England.

Sayef only started to express interest in the usmnt the second he felt Israel was not showing enough interest in him. Then in March he gets called up to the Israel national team against croatia. I dont begrudge him for doing it. His intrest was in a country other then the USMNT and he name dropped us to get his federations attention. Just like Brizuela who then went on to play for mexico in their gold cup campaign. Yeah Toljan has repeatedly said no to Klinsmann he can only ask so many times. Parker Bros arent USMNT material yet. Mabye devante is on the u-23 team and then in a couple years. His older brother has been underwhelming to say the least. Hes on loan at FC Nurenburg maybe he shows something. I am guessing his career path ends up mostly in the Second Division of the Bundesliga. So he might get a couple call ups but I doubt he ends up being a game changer for us.

I feel if we don't steer anyone towards our national side, we have more than enough talent to make it up.

Haha Blaise was the first person who came to mind as soon as I saw this article on ESPNFC. Somebody put the dual-national bat signal in the sky tonight so he doesn't miss this article.

Bedoya = regular mario from mario brothers

Green = Mario after he taps the box with his head and collects the mushroom

Saief = Mario after he taps the box with his head and collects the flower.... because he throws straight fire at his opponents.........

Talk about a weird situation guy about to get a potential callup to Israel has an injury then all of a sudden this article drops. I am guessing he has had a significant change of heart recently because in the past he has seemed pretty open to repping Israel as his first option. Good news for us but hopefully we get him in the summer because he could always change his mind again. I just hope he is 110 percent committed to us and ready to fight for a spot in the summer.

Not saying he's a bad player but he's a 23 yr old (not young) who can't crack Israelis senior team (not super strong) and hasn't played above Belgian league(not very strong league). I'd rather see someone like hyndman or pulisic in the middle over him. Never mind the uber talented 18-19 yr old guys coming up

This is soooo abstract... I like it.

I don't believe Saief is that fire Mario tho. It has to be Pulisic.

he's had great perfomances in europa league...the guy shouldnt just be brushed off like you so want to. he would play left wing or even better left back NOT in the middle.

pulisic is king koopa lol

does anyone know if this guy still has any chance of playing for the USMNT? if beasley and garza are getting callups...cant see how he could be deemed surplus/not good enough.

No shortage of open slots for people with the Gold Cup this summer. . . So, if he doesn't get called in for this then he's done.

There are a number of positions where I wish we had more competition/better options, unfortunately the positions we need the most assistance (Outside Back) don't appear to have much in the way of depth...at least not yet.

Ultimately the Gold Cup will help Identify/Solidify replacements for....
1) Bedoya: His play on the wing has been poor. We need real wide options/depth. Hoping that Green, Gooch, & Arriola can step up and give us an attacking option opposite Pulisic.
2) Zusi: Should have been shelved long ago, and probably wouldn't have gotten the latest call if not for all the injuries/suspensions. But still we need better players than this even in our 3rd/4th stringers.
3) Howard: Age catches up to everyone eventually. We can't keep relying on Howard to bail us out. Need Horvath or someone else to step it up.
4) Dempsey: Another player we've relied on for too long/much. If he's kept around as a super-sub....fine. But he doesn't have the legs to be a full time starter anymore.
5) Jones: He maybe a freak of nature, but at any time now he could be done. Williams, Hyndman, & Acosta are the most likely candidates, but they need to be integrated into the team.
6) Orozco, Wondo, Evans, Marshall, and the rest of the rejects shouldn't get called up anymore. Not even for January Camps. It's past time we moved away from including these types of players in the player pool.

After 2018 the turnover is going to be even larger and more important. When we have to replace Cameron, Fabian, Bradley, & Jozy as starters and most of our depth options (Williams, Morales, Chandler, Lichaj, ArJo, etc....). Hopefully the current crop of prospects progress better than the last group did.

Dave I admire your optimism. Sadly I don't think the actual implementation of the things you're suggesting will be as aggressive as the timeline you set forth.
