He is eligible for the U23's as well.

Belgium takes a long Christmas break, so it's possible he gets called up in January if Gent is willing to let him participate.

getting these rumors from twitter so there ya goo fellas

According to google translation, the author (and quite colorfully) is pissed that Israel has not pursued him more aggressively(?) and while JK/US was chasing him.

If we get him to the nats thats a good pickup he has played well for Gent in the league and UCL. I could see him getting called up and training with the team for a couple weeks then heading back to Gent. The first game of the January camp is rumored to be january 31st so I am not sure if gent would let him play that game. I would like to see him for the u-23 nats in march the team was has been so narrow and we really need a winger to stretch the field.

I agree. I think it's far more likely to see him with the U23's in March.

He'd be a starter for me on the olympic team!

Yea hugely different sounding player there in terms of his interest in representing USA.

Granted still not a LOVE for this country but he should certainly be called in and given a look.

Im prefacing this by saying that I think he's a good player who immediately slides into the U23 XI and is already ahead of Mixx as a backup CM in my book.

However I find it quite comical the reaction about him possibly coming over to us and the Germany dual nationals.

Lots of people on here dont like or hate guys like Chandler, Morales, Brooks, even lots of negative comments about Green, Fab, Jones in the last few years about how they only picked us because they werent good enough for Germany. Most of those guys were starters in the bundesliga, and germany is a top 3 country in the world.

Now here's Kenny, playing in Belgium, saying he'd much rather play for Israel, with a single World Cup appearance (1970), zero Euro Championship appearances and people are all about bringing him in.

Again I am all for it, but why the double standard? Is it because of hatred towards Jurgen that some people put down any germany duals? Is it a race thing? Im curious.

I think it's an ambivalence with some people. And some people don't get that people can feel like they're a part of 2 countries.

I, for one, don't care. Never really got the, "he better bleed red, white, and blue" or I don't want him perspective. Not that you can ever know what's in a guy's heart anyway. Field the best team. Everyone gives 100% when they're on the field - this is just self-interest, which happens to align with the team. Did Fabs pull himself out of the Mexico game because he's half-German? Would a real American in the same situation have kept on playing? Is Lando less of an American because he got fat the year before the 2014 WC?

I think Juergen's biggest accomplishment is bringing over a couple of German dual nationals who may not have otherwise come over (some of them, of course, would come over anyway).

First, he isn't a CM.

Secondly, he stated that a lot of his past comments were do to his father pressuring him to stay with Israel. Now he feels free to choose the USA if he so desires.

Also Germany were keen to keep Brooks in their system. The "he's not good enough to play for Germany card" doesn't work in his case.

You can debate whether Brooks would have ever had the talent to break into the senior German team (it's still too early to tell) but Germany saw him as a top CB prospect back in 2013 and he was a major coup for Juergen.

This is from an Aug. 2013 ASN article:

Just one day earlier Hrubesch publically indicated his desire to have the 20-year old defender join the German program, presumably paving the way for a cap-tying match at the youth level against Faroe Islands during qualifying for the 2015 U21 Euro tournament, which begins in September. Instead, Brooks is now in line to make his debut for the American senior team when it takes on Bosnia-Herzegovina in Sarajevo on August 14th.

He would have to file a one time switch.

I hate to be the harbinger of bad news, ladies and gentlemen, but Michael Orozco will start for the US men's national team in Jacksonville.
