After the announcement of the roster for the Czech Republic game, I thought about what the October friendly roster might look like. I tried to put together a list, mixing some veterans with the youngsters. I came up one goalie short, and 2 players over the 23 player limit. I have tried to keep up with our younger players in MLS who have been getting consistent playing time. Extremely friggin difficult and I am probably off the mark on more than a few. However, I would really like to see what the community thinks. Especially after that roster announcement this afternoon.

Goal Keepers: Nick Rimaldo, Bill Hamid, ???

Defenders: Matt Besler, Omar Gonzalez, DeAndre Yedlin, Chris Klute, Shane O'Neill, Matt Hedges, Matt Miazga, Eric Palmer Brown, DaMarcus Beasly

Midfielders: Dillon Serna, Dillon Powers, Harry Shipp, Benji Joya, Wil Trapp, Perry Kitchen, Luis Gil, Michael Bradley, Jermaine Jones

Forwards: Will Bruin, Gyasi Zardes; Landon Donovan, Clint Dempsey

The argument could also be made to bring San Zusi and Kyle Beckerman to help mentor the youngsters. I thought Rimando, Beasly, Bradley, Jones, Dempsey, and Donovan would be able to do that. EPB I thought would be good to bring along for the experience.

Shane O'Neill is injured and out for the remainder of the season.

I would put Nguyen in there.

If Morris and Rubin are getting called up, I wouldn't be surprised to see Paul Arriola called up for the October friendly's.

Another player I could see getting called up is Alfred Koroma.

3rd Keeper: Sean Johnson, Clint Irwin, Clark all come to mind.

Would Drop DMB & Dempsey...no need to add the mileage to their legs this season. Re-Integrate them in 2015 for the Gold Cup.

Could see the same for Jones....but he had a long break after the WC so will keep him in the squad to mentor. Maybe use Zusi instead.

Not a fan of Bruin....but can see him included. would like Arriola to get a chance.

If Rimando is going to Europe you have to think Guzan will be in for this roster.

I would say no to Matt miazga. He hasn't been good but most of those have to be spot on. Benji joya hasn't played much this year for chicago either but I would say he's still worth a call up.

Tommy Thompson has been one of SJs best players for a few games now.He keeps it up and a callup is in his future.

Not until he has 1-2 seasons of tearing it up. He still hasn't really proven anything, just has potential.

What does he have to prove? You either have it what it takes or you don't. Its clear as day he has it and he has nothing to gain by staying in MLS. Honestly, it'll be a serious drag to watch him play with the other goons on the Earthquakes for two years.

No reason he won't brin chandler, fab, Cameron, Jozy, mixx. Those guys are veterans. Also I'd be surprised if green doesn't get brought over for almost every friendly. Same as brooks. I can see leaving Grau, hyndman, Rubin behind as they are youngsters who can stay with the partial 1st team training sessions.

Gil should play and start in this friendly. I think him and mixx are currently competing for jones's role this cycle assuming jk keeps Bradley in his role.

This game is on Friday Oct 10, and there are some MLS games both before and after which could affect who gets called up.

2tone thanks for the update on O'Neill, I thought that I had heard that too, but could find nothing online updating it.

Nguyen and Arriola ! Doh!!! Forgot to put them on the list.

Dave - I was thinking about dropping Beasley, Dempsey for those reasons while making the list. However, as it is Donovan's last game, I thought they would bring them in along with Jones/Bradley to make it a competitive match while casting out a wide net to look at as many guys as possible.

MSantoine - I sure could see all of those guys coming. I was just thinking JK wants to cast as wide a net as possible on this side of the pond and see who can step up their game. If he did decide to bring some guys in, Chandler should be an automatic pick to come over to start getting used to that travel! LOL
