Unlike the bitters like to think......actual fans never expected to even compete yet for the title, most believed competition would be for the 4th spot. We are two years ahead of schedule. Soul-crushing.....maybe for fans of clubs that don't every win. I've seen Liverpool lift 12 trophies in my time. Last year was great...rough ending but I'm extremely happy with where Liverpool is at.

Just moving this sub-thread from the prediction thread.

Why is it Liverpool fans always have to bring up history? Well perhaps it is all they have to go on at the moment.

You are also deluded about Gerrad being better than anyone from mine or Dunlopp's favorite team . Fantastic player, yes, but to say he is a better player than someone like Marcel Desailly is ludicrous to me.

Yawn.....not getting into another one of these, happens all the time typically involves either United, Chelsea, or Everton fans for some reason. Chelsea only became relevant at the high level when they were bought a gangster who has the deep pockets and has outspent everyone the last decade. As far as Desailly goes, a great player, but hard to compare to Gerrard as they are two completely different players but Gerrard pushed Liverpool to high levels and won trophies....what did Desailly win at Chelsea? 1 trophy?

Liverpool has been bad for a couple years now. Let's see how they do in the Champs league and Epl this year. They just got whooped by Man city. Hope they face of with Real Madrid or even with Bayern Munich.

Yeah thanks for the obvious. Bad for 4 years but have turned it around since BR. Things are looking on the up and up. I hope they face squads like that....by then our new players will have settled in.

Well if you are basing your rationale on trophies then Lampard has won more over his Chelsea career (13) than Gerrard (9). Just sayin'

No denying Chelsea bought their way to where they are now. But during the time G-14 was in existence, how was any other team going to wrestle the dominance of Man U, Liverpool, and Arsenal who could dictate the rules to their advantage?

They don't play the same position so it's hard to compare them so that's one way. You can compare Lampard and Gerrard as they played the same position or similar positions throughout their career in one league and both played together for England, and most everyone excluding Chelsea fans would tell you that Gerrard is the better player there. Zidane said so.

G-14? Really, that's your prop. That group was just top clubs at the time getting together to form a partnership to fight FIFA/UEFA, and the only way to do that is getting there breadwinners banded together to fight them. They weren't making rules to keep them at the top...they were actually doing things that would help every club across the world. It was all about getting payment compensation for players getting injured in international duty.....clubs were getting screwed spending millions upon millions on player development and then lose players in international games and FIFA/UEFA would just rake in money with no financial windfall when it came to players. Looks like you were listening to the "special ones" complaints just because that's what he's good at without understanding what the purpose of G14 was.

Call me suspicious when a group of elite teams get together to form a lobby group. Sure, they made good on their stated public purpose, but who really knows what happened behind closed doors with the saintly UEFA or FIFA? If their purpose was solely to further football, why not invite teams from all leagues, not just the powerful ones and form a united front (no pun intended)? Why not form a football lobby group and elect representatives?
