Busch probably could've stopped 2 of those goals.

Wait why are pooping on MLS? Weren't you just saying I shouldn't be rooting for America in the CCL against Montreal? And that I should support MLS no matter what? Personally I think New England matches up better against America.

New England presses the ball better and they possess the ball better than Montreal does. America wouldn't dominate New England right now like they did against Montreal.

But yes America is the best team in CONCACAF I am not disputing that. I think a New England V America game would be titanic.

Hopefully LA, Seattle, DC, and RSL make it to the knockout rounds.

Its not apples to apples but Montral full squad with some key injuries, and missing their starting goalie went toe to toe with America using a full squad. Montreal is one of the worst teams in MLS. I dont think its a stretch to say a good MLS team could hang with America, if not be favored to beat them.

MLS's problem is that the the teams dont try in the US open cup and group stages of CCL so some good MLS teams get dropped out at that stage. Then the first knockout round is the worst possible time for MLS teams so they are prone to mistakes that could be costly. If they started the knockout stage 3-4 weeks later then they do now we'd see MLS teams more regularly beat Mexican teams, make finals, and win titles.

Yeah no, check the overall stats, America had 49 shots (15 on goal) against 15 from Montreal (7 on goal) with an average possession of 65-35 for America, what helped Montreal was their defensive tactic and ridiculous preparation for these games while America played 4 in 15 days and one against their biggest rivals, any MLS team that had tried to attack America would have been humiliated, San Jose and Montreal had shown us that the way to get the result is parking the bus but even that won't be enough if luck isn't on your side.

True but that isn't what MSantione was saying. Montreal has been a horrendous MLS team. Just imagine if a team like Seattle or New England ( who can actually possess the ball) got the same kind of luck as Montreal did. If a crap team can make the final, then certainly in the next few years a better MLS team can win it.

Exactly. Quote whatever stats you want. In the two legged final with about 60 minutes left Montreal was in the drivers seat and had they bunkered in they would have been champs. If a crap team like Montreal can get within 60 minutes of a championship then its not crazy to say had it been Seattle or Revs in that final it would have been more competitive.

Unless you think Montreal is the best matchup against America out of all the MLS teams
