Fulham V Ipswich: Hyndman starting. Game starts in 17 minutes.

Bolton V Watford: Ream started. Bolton lost 3-0

Reading V Wigan: Williams out injured. Novakovich not in 18. 2-2 tie.

Nottingham Forest V Blackpool: Lichaj subbed into the game in the second half. Nottingham win 2-0.

Blackburn V Cardiff; Blackburn win 1-0. Adam Henley not in 18.

Birmingham V Middlesbrough: Spector and Packwood not in 18 for Birmingham. Seb Hines started and went 90 at CB for Middlesbrough in a 2-0 win for Middlesbrough.

Huddersfield V Bournemouth. Holmes not even in the 18, don't know if he has an injury or if the coaching staff continues their incompetence with Holmes. Huddersfield was spanked 4-0.

That's all of the Americans that I know of in the Championship.

Hyndman starting wow thats good 2 hear considering magath does a pretty good job of getting players fit and focused. For a young player magath is one of the better coaches you could get. I wouldnt be surprised if he gets called up. Ream also has a good chance to get called up potentially. I think hines needs to put together a long stretch of games to be considered for the team. I think packwood and spector have knocks if I am not mistaken. Weird that holmes isnt in 18 he is healthy and has looked good in preseason.

Also being next to Scott Parker...that's huge. Such veteran leadership to learn from.

Looks like Fulham is going to lose this one, but also looks like Emerson is gonna go the full 90.

My initial thoughts on Hyndman are this:

He is a Jose Torres type of CM. Hyndamn isn't going to give you much in defense which means a whole lot of running for his CM partner. He can pick out a pass, but can be easily overpowered by stronger CM's.

He can become a very good deep lying playmaker, but he needs to work defensively. Jurgen likes his CM's to be able to get forward and track back with a lot of work rate, so he needs to work on that.

Still wouldn't mind seeing him called up for the Sept. friendlies.

He got rave reviews from Fulham fans. The good thing about him being in the championship is that it is a fast, tough style of soccer. Over time he will learn how to prevent himself from getting muscled by stronger players. Additionally he's still quite young so he's hasn't fully matured.

Good to see Hyndman starting, I hope this new Fulham team can gel and get on track quickly. Any word on what's happening with Duane Holmes? Losing 4-0 at home to lowly Bournemouth (and it could have been 5, Bournemouth had a penalty saved), even in game 1, is cause for concern, so kind of glad he didn't feature.

Bournemouth actually finished 10th last year, so I was wrong about how far down the table they were. Still not encouraging for Huddersfield to be so comprehensively beaten at home in the opener though.

I think it's laughable that they talk so highly of Holmes but then don't put him in the 18. Every time the kid plays he does good things. Hopefully he gets playing time, a loan, or moves to a club that will play him.

Maybe the new manager will play Holmes, Mark Robins out one game into the season.

Hopefully the new coaching staff will realize that Holmes is Huddersfield best player.

Is it a coincidence when Holmes really started to embrace and identify being an American last season, his minutes started to shrink?

Hyndam did look the real deal against Ipswich yesterday. He was composed & seemed to read the game just fine. Problem was, he was paired with Parker who doesn't run & NEVER passes forward. I think the kid will do well. Fulham has some very exciting young players. Five teenagers played yesterday and did well. They will have to toughen up as shown by the fact that they entire Fulham squad committed only two fouls but the future is bright assuming the EPL vultures don't come knocking just yet.

Being 18 Hyndamn has time to work on rounding out his game on the defensive side of the ball & becoming more physical. Magath and the Championship will help beat that into him.
May be a little early to bring him into the Sr. National Team for the Sept. friendlies, but if he continues to start and get 90 he may get a look sooner than later.
