Some news outlets are reporting that the USMNT will take on Colombia on Sept. 9 at the Alomodome in San Antonio.

You guys excited? Surely MLS players will be involved more than likely for both friendly's now.

Czech Republic Sept. 3

Colombia Sept. 9.

Nice good friendlies that Colombia one looks very good. I guess I will have to revise my roster predictions to include a good amount of mls players.

Is on a FIFA date so all European players will be available. But i do expect a heavy mls roster. Hopefully Colombia brings their full squad along with Falcao if Fit. Also on another note let's see if San Antonio can make a case to have and Mls team there, they would surely need to sell out the Alamo Dome.

No idea if this plausible, but could it be a euro-based roster for the Czech, and then a different, MLS based roster for Colombia?

Alamodome is a 65k seat stadium, I'm not sure that any soccer team playing there is going to sell that out.

That said, if they can get 40k out there for a national team friendly, that and their steadily increasing attendance figures for Scorpions games should be enough of an indication that, while it may not be the sexiest of choices, it will be a good stable home for an MLS team.

I don't see that happening. It's 6 days in between games, so there is no need to do split squads. Could there be more MLS/Liga MX guys called in for the US based game? Absolutely, but I foresee European based players getting called in as well.

Mexico got over 54k on a friendly vs South Korea which is a record there. So if USA can get 55k plus it will set a new record. Im sure Colombia with James and possibly Falcao will pull a huge amount of fans including Colombians.

Houston has a large population of Colombians and it is only about a 2 1/2 hour drive. Soooo it will be really important IMO for USMNT fans to come out in force! I am hoping the AO supporters groups from Texas start getting their people mobilized. Only problem, it is during the school week. So, it may be tough for families in Dallas, Houston, El Paso, etc. to plan on going to the game. I think we are going, but my kids have to miss at least two days of school. I hope the tickets are priced realistically.

I love the fact that Juergen is capitalizing on the ability to hold two games during the September window. The fact that its Colombia is all the better.

Wow. If only Colombia could figure out a way to play a 2-3-5 would the matchup be any cooler. I love this, and I hope we can play an attractive game in a friendly. Or at least promote players whose M.O. is to play good soccer. This combined with the Czech Republic games are exactly what Jurgen has been trying to do which is repeatedly challenging us to get better. This is also (along with Ecuador) two possible opponents in the Copa America already on the schedule.

I have gotten to see Sean Johnson personally improve he has been incredible this year. The Fire defense, no matter who is back there, have been poor, along with midfield. It seems the opposing team gets chance after chance after chance. The large amount of draws (11 I believe) are basically due to Sean Johnson as they really could/should have been losses. I know some people cant get that flub v El Salvador out of their heads, but he really has grown. I truly believe he should get to start the Colombia game in this side of the globe while Guzan should start the game v Czech Republic.

I haven't watched too many Fire games this season but I just was about to post that Bill Hamid has become the main reason I've been watching DC United lately. He's been stupid good and had another strong performance tonight against Toronto.

It's great to see Hamid and Johnson living up to the hype that they warranted a few years ago as youngsters.

Again Sean Johnson with a strong outing. One save on a breakaway one on one, came out twice "Neuer-like" to stop Vancouver as well. Even his goal kicking has gotten better.

Bill Hamid always has that game recognition when I see him play. Impressive.

I've seen Guzan play in person for a long time, since he was a Fire PDL player. He's always been so solid. Not having a chance to see him much for Aston Villa, as much as Hamid and Sean Johnson have improved, I still think there is a large gap between Guzan and the contenders. A half each for Bill and Sean would be nice to gauge their progress within the USMNT environment against the quality of Colombia.
