If NYCFC is truly going to pay a 36 year old Frank Lampard $8m per year then I understand why Jones thinks he's worthy of a big payday.

Thank you Skangles. Why get a damn near washed up Frank Lampard when you could have Jermaine Jones for half or even three fourths of that? The marketing angle is BS.With the oil money they have, they could easily pay Jermaine Jones who had an awesome World Cup.

I think Omar to America would be a great move for both parties. They have an exciting team and he would be under constant pressure to perform. I could see an environment like America ironing out the occasional mishaps in Omar's game. Plus his home field would be Azteca, not bad!

Did anybody catch America vs Tijuana this weekend? It was a really entertaining game that America took in the final seconds. Joe Benny played well, he had a break away on goal but was tripped up outside the box, no red.

Given the amount of money being lavished on Lampard, not surprisingly Jones and his agent will push to maximize Jones potential value accordingly, particularly given Jones solid work in his four WC appearances.

Jones is much more of a 'steel' as opposed to 'silk' type player such as Lampard has been. While sometimes capable of offensive output, and often an effective passer from the back, Jones primary value is as a hard scrabble 50/50 ball winner, and defensive destroyer. A classic number six.

Jones type is essential for any successful side, but he is not the glamorous offensive type that MLS wants to emphasize in its marketing campaign.

That said, if he has his druthers, Jones will end up on the West Coast, preferably in LA.

Jones is not a classic #6 IMO. If nothing else, his WC performances showed that

I would like to see Corona given more chances with the USMNT.

Thanks for the link. It says Chicago joined the list of clubs courting Jones as a DP. Did I miss an earlier report on who those clubs were? It implies that the Galaxy are interested but can they dump a DP in the next few days?

Idk about a list either. Maybe there are interested MLS teams but nothing has been said because Jones and the "list of teams" cant reach an agreement to Jones wages.
Just a guess. Didnt know that LA might be interested but I highly doubt it. Keane and LD arent going no where and after that performance against the Sounders, Gonzo looks just as good as ever for them.

La traded kofi opare and a next year draft pick to swap allocation slots with dcu. That would seem they want someone. Perhaps Omar is on his way out and jermaine is coming in.

I don't understand why the Galaxy would be willing to trade Opare if Omar was on his way out of town. Wouldn't they need to rely on Opare to fill Omar's void if the player they're targeting isn't a CB? It seems like a strange player to trade unless Omar is staying and they are targeting a player other than Jones that wouldn't take up a DP spot?

Let me throw out a very unlikely scenario just for fun.

What if the Galaxy want Jermaine Jones and manage to meet whatever magical threshold Dempsey and Bradley eclipsed in order to avoid the allocation process. In order to sign Jones as a DP, they sell Omar and then focus their allocation efforts on none other than...Oguchi Onyewu.

Jones + Onyewu and the Galaxy go all out for another title. Don't forget Arena first capped Gooch back in 2006 and Bruce is known to love bringing veteran MNTers into the Galaxy (Greg Vanney, Eddie Lewis, Jovan Kirovski).

I doubt this happens but it's something to think about.

Seen as DC just got Opare there is no need for them to go for Onyewu so that ends that saga.
After given up Opare there is no good CB back up if either AJ or Gonzo get injured. Leonardo is terrible and isnt nowhere near a MLS bench back up. Unless LA are getting a good CB at a cheap price to fill in Gonzo shoes then he wont be going no where. Not only that but his rumor transfers seem to have died

i could believe that. He would be a great depth player for rotation and any injuries concerns in that midfield etc etc
