The only time we can see them compete against a top euro club would be in the FIFA Club World cup. That's to say when we finally make it.

FIFA Club WC is a glorified friendly tournament. Not to say that I wouldn't like to see an MLS team there one day, but it's not taken serious by any of the teams involved.

Disagree here. No club participates in the CWC and just says, we don't care. If this was the case their starters, substitution patters, etc. would reflect that approach, but they do not. Bayern used full strength lineups in all their appearances, and Barça under Pep did the same as well. Ronaldinho and other starters were lambasted in the Brazilian media when Atletico Mineiro lost to Raja Casablanca 3-1 for the same reason. They wanted to win but choked against inferior opposition.

Uefa/CONMEBOL teams play two games at the CWC. Semis and Final if they make it to the final. It's a farce. I have seen plenty of UEFA teams/CONMEBOL teams use squad/bench/second team players during this tournament.

There is a difference between expected to win and wanting to win.

Hell Real Madrid finished 4th in this tournament, and no one from Madrid could have cared less at the time.

South American and euro clubs go all out when they play each other. Before it was intercontinental cup just south America and euro teams, and south America for the most part won more cups, and both teams have said in the past that they took it more serious than the libertadores final or champions league final. And that's coming from players like roberto Carlos, zidane, riquelme, Palermo etc....

Well I can tell you that Atletico both expected and wanted to win.

Secondarily, Madrid hasn't participated in the CWC since 2000. That was the inaugural edition and bore little similarity to the current iteration. So, I'm not sure what relation that might have on gauging how seriously players and clubs view it today.

Too bad MLS sees little value in guys like Juliao. Instead they'd rather overpay the bigger name.

You know the average MLS salary is $207k, with 83% of the league earning less than that. Top 7 MLS players make up 31% of ALL MLS salaries. Yeah, MLS knows what its doing. Gimme a break.
