As a galaxy fan I know is a friendly and all and not meaningful but come on you have to put more effort. Man after the barrage of changes galaxy absolutely fell apart, it shows all teams here need depth, the scoreline tells more they have to seriously get rid of the salary cap it was gut wrenching watching this game, at least KC put some effort in it.

People who take any stock in these games need to relax. The MLS clubs are in knee deep in the season and either just had a REAL game or have one coming up. Also most of the teams best players just spent 6 grueling weeks in World Cup preparation and action. The coaches would be dumb to try to win. Its an exhibition. Its a chance for fans to say things like I saw Rooney play live, or I saw Dzeko, etc. Arena doesnt care if they win, or even if they get their socks blown off, he actually would probably prefer to play the Galaxy 2 lineup.

In the NBA when its preseason and the 2-3 teams go to a preseason tour in europe no one cares if the Celtics lose to Partizan Belgrade or Olypiakos. Just like no one should care if its an exhibition game and the Galaxy lose to Man U. Just like it wouldnt matter if Galaxy beat Man U. Its an exhibition.

(On value of game to young Galaxy players-)

ARENA: "If they aspire to be top flight professionals they see some of the top fligh professionals and the way they conduct themselves on the field and speed of play. Our young players and a number of our players still are not quality passers. And one thing you saw tonight, the passing by Manchester United was quick and crisp; it was of quality. We have too many players who are technically deficient right now, and it's something they should learn. It's also speed of thought. Quickness in moving, winning tackles, running off the ball-all the simple things we frequently talk about but unless you see it live and in real life it's sometimes hard to have a picture of it, and they got a great picture of it tonight."

Bruce Arena, what an a**hole, right?

These are issues that U9 teams are suppose to have, not the next level of young MLS talent.

Stop spending money on aging "stars" and do something about these academies. I'd rather watch technically efficient nobodies on Houston's left wing than a Demarcus Beasley who is just going to collect his money and kick the ball around for a little while longer.

He is right though. As LA Galaxy fan yesterday performance was pretty pathetic. If we are going to get blown away 7-0 then we shouldnt be scheduling these games agaisnt UTD. Play Aston Villa or Palace. Now i know it doesnt mean anything but at least be competitive thats all. First half mistakes are amateur mistakes from Meyer and Aj. Even if we lost 3-0 but 7-0 just makes team and league look even worse especially if you have those casual fans watching an EPL team blow away MLS like that

I got you buddy. The Quakes didn't play Lenhard up front with Wondo, this time it was the speedy Djalo up front with Wondo. The two of them abused Jhon Kennedy Hurtado over and over again. Should have been 7-1. Frank Yallop embarrassed at his San Jose homecoming.

Oh yeah, completely agree. I was being facetious about Arena. But its funny when Ashley Cole says something negative, he's called an a**hole and a wash up. I thought it would be interesting to see what the reaction would be to Arena's comments, since he is a coach in MLS.

And from what I hear, the Galaxy have one of the best academies out there.

I couldn't care less that the Galaxy lost this game, but it concerns me that their own coach says his youth players are technically deficient. Not good.

Technically Arena is slamming himself and the coaching staff and youth coaches. If the players are deficient, it's because the coaching is deficient.

I was looking forward to these matches yesterday but after that 7-0 display i think we should stop playing EPL teams until we can be competitive. All this doesnt help us and the league one bit, it just hurts our league's progress reputation. Casual People see this and say MLS still sucks and if we beat an EPL it means squat so does nothing positive for us. These are televised games and when casual fans see EPL scoring 7 on MLS then why would they in their mind want to watch a "bad" team. It was men vs boys yesterday. If we want to make money then let the EPL teams play amount other pre season European teams.

Why should all MLS teams stop playing European teams? Seattle and Toronto acquitted themselves well against Tottenham. SKC was out playing Manchester City in the first half. Seattle dominated Tottenham in the first half. Seattle was unlucky not to go into the half with a 3-1 lead. Tottenham were lucky to beat Toronto yesterday. There have been many cases of MLS teams beating European teams in past summers. LA is just overrated as a team at the moment.

I think MLS shouldn't participate in these friendlies in the summer for a different reason. I think it's nonsense to play a friendly while the regular season is going on.

Yup. Galaxy played Man U first team in the first half without Landon or Gonzalez. They could/should have been down 1-0 if there 3rd string CB didnt suck. If you are mad that a third string MLS defender cant defend Manchester freaking United first teamers then go find a new sport to follow.

Also if your surprised that Man U bench/young guys could score 4 goals against LAG2 then again fix your expectations.

Can't the MLS maybe take a week-10 days off while these Euro teams are coming over to play so it's not physically taxing? Kind of like a mid season break almost. Then just add a week to the beginning or end of the season

I think its just a fact that LA is no longer that team that other teams feared. LD and Keane three years ago were dominant and could demolish any team when on top of their games.
