@chelseayouth tweeted today that new Chelsea FC scholar Faiq Bolkiah was born in the United States. He's a 98 who is also the nephew of Brunei's Sultan. From thechels.net,

"Faiq Bolkiah, Attacking Midfielder
Faiq is the nephew of the current Sultan of Brunei, but the most notable portion of his football career has come during the last twelve months in England. A trial spell with Arsenal last summer saw him attract attention during the Singapore Cup, but a permanent deal failed to materialise and he moved on to Reading. Fast forward six months and the Bruneian had put pen to paper on a scholarship with The Blues. Fleet of foot and blessed with fantastic skill, the winger offers a resemblance to Neymar to the eye and plays in a similiar manner to the talented young Brazilian."

It's a sub-forum for U17 US players, Faiq is U17 eligible, I'm curious how it's funny?

No way bro, I'm the biggest dual national band wagon fan on this site!

99% of my posts are about dual nationals, jermaine jones vs bradley pairing, and starting XI's that will never happen!

Also give an occasional shout out to 2tone's 1,000 comment milestones!

So what international options does he have? Just US and Brunei? Think we can pull that one off if so.

When you uncle is the dictator, your not playing for your country? Wouldn't he kill him? (just kidding, not really)

Brunei was suspended from this World Cup and withdrew from the upcoming Asian Cup and Asian Challenge Cup. So not exactly a stellar option for international soccer, but yeah, not holding my breath for this recruitment to pan out anyway.

Richie went to London to scout him. Probably hoping to add some fire power to his WC bound squad.

Nope its all u-23 squad so its counted as a friendly he is still eligible for the United States. Considering the results for brunei in the tournament I am not sure he will be to keen to represent them. But his uncle is the sultan of the country so I am guessing Brunei wants to keep him badly since they are really starved for talent. If he develops well I am not sure that he could pass up an opportunity to play for the US.

Hoffenheim defender Jeremy Toljan has decided to reject calls from the United States to play for the German Under-21 national team.
