Scored the game winner in the 90th minute over St. Johnstone

Could we possibly see young Emerson in the next few weeks?

Sorry Jozy...you said it yourself that you don't like playing as a single striker. No....I don't think realistically EH will start, but I don't see why not on a call up when looking at other options.

I don't recall Jozy saying he didn't like playing as a single striker. I recall him saying he doesn't like the 4-3-3 though.

I forgot about Pulisic didn't I lol, I can't stop smiling now...

Easy solution for your forgetting Pulisic. Drop Sacha Kljestan and insert CP.
IMO there are a number others who should be ahead of SK....especially as a wider player...Lletget, Green, Arriola, Zardes, Gooch, etc. Speed kills, and these guys all bring that in spades in comparison to SK.

As a USMNT coach, I don't think Bruce can ignore the form Hyndman is in right now. Dude has been lights out for Rangers. Would love to see him in that advanced CM role with the Nats.

True, but Arena said he wanted a "better passing midfield". I am going to take the liberty to interpret it as someone who can pass in a variety of fashions. Long ball, small dinks here and there, through balls. SK is a guy for that.

Pulisic is not going to think he's going to attack. I love attacking, a sole concentration on attacking leaves you to die by your own sword. You get 10 goals a game, you're winning, you get 2, with our defense, we probably lose that game.

i'm not saying drop Pulisic, but Pulisic for me, isn't in competition with SK. Or any one who is going to look like SK.

We I think we should see hymdman on the teams (not start out be selected). However I've been saying all along I think arena is going to bring mostly mls retreads and none of the potential euro starters (I'm sure fab, yedlin, and brooks will be there but I bet miazga, chandler, Payne, etc) are left off the roster.

No way, Arena was never that guy to begin with. All comments were either taken out of context, or just plain JK hating, which is cool because everyone in the US was doing it. So it should mean nothing.

In 2006, the lineup was heavy with European leaguers, the only MLSers that I recall that might not have deserved to be there, key word MIGHT, Maestro and Pope.

And in both cases, they were there because their better got hurt.

Pope - Corey Gibbs who shot his knee into oblivion at Carlton, but dammit wound up marrying a beautiful English girl.

Maestro - O'Brien who was supposed to be our first Michael Bradley but got injured after picking up the phone from Bruce for the WC callup.

Donovan and Dempsey were Mlsers. They deserved to be there. Can't argue that Pope and Maestro weren't solid performers. Berhalter decayed to the point where he was just a practice dude in 06.

McBride was still doing it in England, but I felt maybe we could have gone Twellman, or some one else. But see, he went with the Premier League guy.

I think Arena is an opportunist, and whatever will get that W, he will do. He is NOT an idealist. That was JK.

What the heck does John Obrien was supposed to be our first Michael Bradley mean?
John O'brien was supposed to be our first World Class player that competed in knockout rounds for Champions League consistently.
John O'brien has shown a combination of athleticism, flare, and IQ that we haven't seen since.

I see SK as a Center Attacking Mid.
I don't see SK as having the ability even today as Hyndman to impact a game at the international level.

This team's biggest problem is how it approaches the midfield.
Nagbe isn't a winger.
SK and Feilhaber cant be first choice options.
Bradley should have been in the process of being transitioned out 2 yrs ago. Too slow for this level.

YEA BRO, THAT'S HOW I DO THIS, I THROW INDIRECT ARROWS AT POSTERS I DON'T EVEN KNOW!!!

Michael Bradley was an awesome player, man. Probably the midfielder with most renown in the European arena, of the USA group. Generalisimo, appreciated by the Italian tactical brass inspite of his shortcomings technically. I mean, these are the guys who fuss with Inzaghi. They thought he was inferior technically but loved his positioning. Which was, you know always offsides. But that one time he don't catch you!!!

I mean, you know who else showed stuff that hasn't been shown since? Adu. And it seems like, and understandably so, it's always about results. Hard to say there's been a player like Bradley in our ranks ever, from results. I mean show me someone better?

And breaking through at Ajax, in the Dutch league, again parallels to Bradley, is a pretty similar result.

O'Brien was a menace, I loved that guy. He was supposed to be our first WClass plyaer, totally agreed. But he didn't materialize. I love it how people will say Freddy Adu, but then John O'Brien. JOB literally had 1 full season. Totally love the guy, don't get me wrong.

Is Pulisic a CAM? I thought after the 5 3 2 everyone agreed that Puli is a winger. SK mos def is a CM. Nagbe isn't a winger, agreed, but he can play it the way Iniesta used to. Which is more methodical and shifty as opposed to outright pressing down the touchline.

I can't see how Hyndmann is not, at the very least, part of the squad for qualifiers.

While the old MLS guard is rounding into shape for their season, EH is already match fit and in good form. He is not playing youth/reserve football, he is playing against men.

If you watch the complete highlights of his last match he is actively taking on players on the dribble, making room for his shot, and hitting the mark.

I would play a modified 4-3-3 which would look more like a 4-3-2-1

Yedlin, Birnbaum, Brooks, Besler
MB90, Cameron, FJ
Pulisic, Hyndmann
Wood

Pulisic and EH would have "free" roles

but that right there, wouldn't it be better for FJ and Hyndman to switch positions. Hyndman isn't a light weight in a tackle.

@knownothing My biggest problem with that lineup is that we would have no threat from the flanks.

I thank Besler for his services but he's really too slow for this level and will get exposed 1v1. I also don't see him as a left back in this pool.

Bradley, again thank you for your services. It's time to transition to D. Will, Morales, Acosta.

We don't need 2 CDMs. Bradley and Cam lined up like that looks crazy.

CCV and Miazga should be challenging Birnbaum and EPB should have a roster spot.

Arriola is playing out of his mind and he offers something we need, dynamic wing play.

Boyd and Julian Green have to be in the striker pool and I think 1 should be starting.

Last, but not least. Let's not ruin Bobby Wood by leaving him as a lone striker to take a beating and be starved of service, because we're playing 2-3 CDMs.
