I've wanted Johnson back at LW for us for a while. It didn't help though that he was good at every single position he played, though. I'm suppppperrr excited about this cycle. This is a great roster, and this may have been addressed already, but does anyone know why Zardes isn't included in this roster?

Its crazy to think jordan morris is the first college player to be called up in 15 years. Chris Albright was the last one. Ironically one of the more surprising call ups after the 2010 world cup in november was one juan agudelo who just happens to be the guy presumably slighted in favor for morris. Personally I think klinsmann does this call up because he really wants him to turn pro in january. Its a nice nudge in the back to remind him that us soccer thinks he is important. His father apparently wants him to get his degree which while noble, will and should never be encouraged by anyone on this website for top young talent. It also doesnt help seattle has sooo many forwards he doesnt see a route to playing time hence why he is staying with stanford. Personally I think i could see this call up deffiently causing him to jump ship to mls.

If Morris had signed the HG contract Seattle wanted to give him back in the fall of 2013, he would already be starting for them at one of the winger positions. I believe ultimately he will be a wide FWD/winger at the senior level.

I love the roster...bummed that Cameron is out. I was hoping to see a solid back 4 with MB in front to lend stability and structure up the spine. He would have added a lot of continuity and support to the younger players. Could be a tough go in the middle, hopefully Morales plays well, maybe coupled with Hyndman...not crazy about Mix there. Ream could play some Dmid also, although I'd rather see him compete for the LB slot.

I've read that Morris has uncanny vision and awareness for a target forward...can't wait to see him play.

Love that Corona was called in, also Rubin and Hyndman...most of the guys I wanted to see...still need a stronger presence up the midfield spine to pull it together against a tough Czech R side.

Morris is an amateur. I don't have a hard time calling reserve or B-team, or second division club guys to get caps, they are at least real footballers, they are actual professionals. But a college player playing for the US senior national team? He may be good enough (eventually), but I'd like to see him play against actual professionals instead of college players and the u-23's of the bahamas before we allow him to just waltz right into the senior team set up. We've got to have some kind of standards to play for the USMNT, and for me I draw that line at amateurs. This kid better be really really good, this isn't 1990 anymore.

I find it a bit odd that jurgen called in a college player over 1000 American players playing proffesionally in mls, Usl, nasl, europe. Hey for the next home friendly I predict he will call the gatorade High School Player of the Year!!

You should be praising Jurgen for that.

Greg garza, nice pick there of someone to bring over. Morris is a great call who cares if he's an amateur. Rubio Rubin is already my choice for future star so as long as he made it I was happy, let alone all the others. This is the type of squad we all wanted to see, be honest.

This should be a wake up call to agudelo for sure, and for guys like Stanko and Holmes incentive to show we are moving forward and pretty much anyone has a chance now going forward, although they didn't make the squad.

I agree about Cameron, wanted to see him at CB hopefully another team makes that move with the deadline approaching.

Really like the roster. That's what a friendly 4 years before a World Cup and a year before the next semi meaningful game is supposed to be. Let's see brooks fab and chandler/garza in the back. Rubin green Jozy and maybe gays up front. Great to see him do what he should and not bring in the 30year old fringe guys like he did in 2011

My guess for starting lineup

Guzan
Fab-mof-brooks-chandler
Morales-mixx-corona
Bedoya-Jozy-Shea

Guzan wears the band.

Gyau wood and Rubin as 2nd half subs. Hyndman as a late sub. Garza for chandler around 60'.

Klinnsman saw him in the world cup training camp. Had he picked him up without that experience you are right. But I like the fact that he is willing to call him in for a quick camp against solid competition. Once the college season is over Morris will be with the Sounders for next season. Why criticize a kid for going to Stanford? With the crowded front line in Seattle he is probably getting more playing time with the Cardinal.

No one is criticizing Morris for going to Stanford, trust me I understand the importance of a good education. But with that route american players must recognize that good play in college isn't good enough to be called into the USMNT which is supposed to be a collection of some of the best American PROFESSIONAL soccer players in the country and abroad. However, we are criticizing klinsmann for calling up a COLLEGE PLAYER who has absolutely 0 professional mins! This isn't amateur hour, even if it is just a friendly. And finally, if the kid is good enough to get a USMNT call up shouldn't he be good enough to beat out Kenny Cooper or Chad fucking Barret for some professional playing time every week.
