Now that we've vented all of our joy, can we admit that we're uphilling it against Belgium, and would be uphilling it against Switzerland or Argentina?
I think we can win any of those, given how all 3 other teams are playing, but surely we're not in a 50/50 situation here.

Gotta put Wondo in for this game. Risking Jozy would be a mistake, we need him badly for the next three games after this one. Cant win the WC without him, especially in games against the likes of Argentina.

So put in Wondo and let him get after Van Buyten with his runs. Yes, I realize I may be the only one advocating it, but we cant just isolate Dempsey all alone up there, he is much better playing with a partner up top.

Of course. We've been uphilling it ever since those balls were pulled out of the machine 7 months ago. That's why it's so awesome we made it through.
The next WC will probably be the 1st ever where the Vegas odds of us going through are >50%.

Agreed except for Switzerland. I don't think they're a better team than us, I'd say we're about equal.

The beauty for the US is that we are underdogs and we thrive in that situation. Lalas kept referring to Portugal as a wounded animal and while Belgium is hardly wounded I think they're primed for a surprise attack and would play them as if they were a wounded animal.

Belgium is individually loaded but haven't looked convincing as a team. They have 9 points but South Korea, Russia and Algeria are not nearly as good as the US.

If Belgium finds their rhythm then that will probably end our time in Brazil but while they're still the favorites, I like our chances.

Argentina is a different story altogether. They haven't played the best and have their weaknesses but Messi started to get going at the end of the Iran match through the Nigeria match. As good as the Dutch have looked, I think Argentina is most likely to make the Final from our half of the bracket. We would need to play our hearts out to knock them out.

Kompany is doubtful and Vermaelen could out. Definitely something to watch leading up to Tuesday

Will Klinsy try a solution to Bedoya's lackluster attacking play?
Will Klinsy possibly rearrange to pull Bradley away from the #10-type position in various formations?

Is there a two-birds-with-one-stone solution here, that can push Bradley back a touch and replace Bedoya?

If Kompany indeed is out, I would be almost tempted to say that the USMNT should go with a diamond 4-4-2 in order to attack Van Buyten.

I could see us starting without Beckerman and bringing him on as a sub to protect a lead. Him, Bradley, Jones is all a little too similar for me. Especially with Kyle (and Jones) on a yellow.

There's no game planning for future games. If Jozy goes out there, plays his heart out for 45' and his hanging explodes then it's worth it. There's 2 years before our next meaningful matches. Same with respect to yellow cards. I don't care if we have to start guzan, chandler, yedlin, Davis, green, wondo vs Argentina. We do everything it takes to beat Belgium. Anything after that you worry about when you get there.

Every game must be seen as the last game. You play Jozy if you can.

So putting a half injured player out there is "worth it"??? Hmmm, did you not see Diego Costa playing in this tournament after his Champions League final exit... There is such a thing as too soon for an injury, or you re-injure the thing. Jozy is jogging, not sprinting or actually practicing. It would be nuts to put him out there. Jozy is not a piece of meat, he's a person. I myself was dumb enough to play with sprained ankles and a slightly pulled hamstring, because it was left up to me. But the USA team has doctors and trainers for a reason. Of course Jozy wants to play, its the World Cup. But sometimes you have to protect players from themselves. A half-injured Jozy is NOT what we need against Belgium. They have good defenders if you recall, even without Vermaelen and Kompany and VanDenBorre out.

Belgium has more defenders but nothing compares to Kompany or Vermaelen. THose guys are in top teams for a reason. Any team with Kompany missing would be massive. Saying that i still think we should save jozy. I think we can beat Belgium. Were gonna need jozy for the Argentina/Swiss game hopefully
