Has this been posted? He's a public figure and as such his performances will be criticized and rightfully so but on a personal level I feel terrible for him. This will eat away at him more than it will eat away at any of us.

I thought I read somewhere that the offside flag went up after he scuffed the shot. Is this false?

I wrote yesterday I came for the comments because I knew a select few would rage. If I didn't watch the game and came straight here, I would've thought we had lost 5-0. Nope. A closely contested loss to a superior team.

You gents need to back away from the keyboard. Did Klinsmann run over your dog? No one deserves this much rage.

So i was reading around a bit and looked at the Belgium euro 2000 squad and wow what a massive change to 2014. What I read was that after EUro 2000 Belgium injected all that money into their youth infrastructure. All their focus had gone to their youth and boom you get 2014 Beglium. I dont know how our youth are looking with JK being the technical director but its something not impossible. I mean Belgium was a team that was nobody for decades until the youth became center of attention. Also dont know how much of the pay to play has been eliminated up to this point

Awesome usa beat the NBA finals ratings. I bet if we would of made the semis or specially the final we would of shattered the superbowl ratings and views. Also many people forget they don't count the people at viewing parties bars, etc... So if there are 50k people watching with one huge screen tv showing it only counts as 1 view. Just imagine how many people were watching in reality.

Jozy was never going to play against Belgium as he sufferred from a grade two hamstring tear. Klinsmann was just baiting him to throw off Belgium. I love it! Why not keep them guessing?

Just re-watched the game. Yedlin has a future. If he can really work on his defensive abilities, he has the potential to become a top 15 or top 10 RB in the world. Nearly every cross he sent in was into the danger area, and knows how to find space. I think finding wingers is much easier than finding a solid fullback, so I'd love to see him continue as a RB.

Klinsman still needs his ass kicked and coaching license suspended for not only picking Wondo over Donovan, but actually playing him in the knockout round.

In a vacuum of World Cup results, Green absolutely justified his inclusion on the roster.

He played 15 minutes and had 1 goal. He had one opportunity and he took it.

It was a hell of a risk by Klinsmann. Green hadn't done anything on a competitive level when he was included and given the downward spiral of his career post World Cup it's easy to call him out and while it's fair to criticize Klinsmann for taking a huge risk, Green is in no way the reason the US was eliminated.

In fact Wondo is the scapegoat for the loss and he crapped the bed in a golden opportunity, I also don't think it's his fault that US was eliminated. He has to do better on that opportunity and we could have robbed Belgium of victory had he put it on frame but the victory would have been stolen.

The real problem in that Belgium game wasn't Wondo it was a back line and midfield that put Tim Howard in a position that he needed to make 16 huge saves just to give the US a fighting chance.

Klinsmann getting the tactics wrong is a far greater sin than his roster failures and just about everybody on the field for the Nats not named Tim Howard has some degree of blame for the Belgium onslaught.

I am damn proud of the way we played against Belgium. We didn't have a single player on our team that would have made their squad and forcing them into extra time was a huge victory in and of itself, as was the fact that we should have won the game and nearly came back from two goals down. Watching us take the game to them after having played over 100 minutes was just incredible. And none of those 16 saves Howard made were particularly extraordinary. They were forced to just take loads of pot shots because we defended well enough to prevent them from generating dangerous chances.

I'd been watching the games at this expat bar with people from around the world and everyone thought that the US played so well that game (and the whole tournament). I mean I thought that much was indisputable. But after the tournament I read the comments on places like here and SBI and just don't understand some people's expectations. It'll be interesting to see how some of these people react to our performance in Russia 2018. Depending on our group, making it out of the group stage is a huge victory. We're ranked 33rd in the world and that's probably about right, so making it to the final 16 teams would be massive. That's about all we can hope for. 2010 was the exception because our group was ridiculously easy as was our round of 16 opponent (relatively). I just don't hope we don't get stuck in the group of death again.

@dolcem Do you think Landon Donovan was a better and more versatile player than Wondo?
Do you think Aguedelo was a better player than Wondo?
I would argue that J Jones, J A Brooks, and Fab could've played for that Belgium team.
