It's true, no one had the balls to say something or even suggest to jk that Donovan could be if help. If captaining a team, I want the best out there or the players I think can help and not be afraid if they stole my spotlight. Jk promised a different style and has players to play possession but bunkered. For me he should be out as well. Also, keep playing players out of position after they've looked horrible? I can't believe Wondo and Davis had some defenders here.

Amen Brother... for players like Howard, Demps, Jones, even Bradley why wouldnt you want something reliable for emergencies...? I dont feel sorry for howard or demps one bit..they betrayed someone they trust and knew could get the job done and now they are sitting home.... again we were outclassed vs Belgium but still...we had a shot to steal that game in stoppage time... thats all it takes!!!!!

And when you pretty much knew you'd bunkering, why not take the one of the best instead of a player that can only deliver on a dead ball like Davis.

No way Donovan survives playing Wing in this tournament at his age/fitness. So you can throw out him making any impact (positively) at either Wing.

The only thing one could possible say is Donovan over Wondo. But even then I just don't see him making an impact there. Sure he probably makes that shot that Wondo missed. But I don't think he would even be IN That position to make that shot, that's just not his game.

Horsehockey. No one is suggesting that LD should've/would've/could've played 4x90mins. LD for half of those minutes would've have helped us keep possession and have SOME offensive potency (We had NONE. Yeah, yeah, we scored a few goals, but we had pretty much ZERO offense).

All Hail Donovan. The savior of USA Soccer. If he can't do it no one can.

Donovan is the greatest thing since sliced bread, he'll never get old, and always be the best USA player ever. He should still be on the USMNT roster in 2026 when the USA will host it again.

Seriously guys, give it a rest. Landon Donovan 2014 is not Landon Donovan 2010. He's not good enough anymore. We would not have scored ONE more goal, nor would we have gotten ONE more point had Landon Donovan been on this team. The ONLY guy who could have helped us get more points/goals is Jozy Altidore.

And since when has Bradley, Jones, Bedoya, Zusi, Dempsey, Beckerman been Possession players? They aren't. It's not that they are bad at doing that, it's just not what they do best. That's not the kind of game they play. Dempsey is best like Donovan on the counter, making runs, etc. Bradley, Jones, Beckerman are all best defending deep, not pushing up and attacking. Bedoya is better on defense and the counter than he is in possession and attacking. Zusi might be the one guy better on attack than defending.

The make-up of the USA roster right now with the best XI is not suited for attacking football with the likes of Belgium, Germany, Portugal, Ghana. It's just not. Personally I want more than anything to see possession with purpose (attacking) type football out of the USA. But I am glad that JK didn't do that this world cup. We may have gotten 1 point if we had played that way every game. Most of the games would have looked like Belgium (when we actually did try to attack).

All ability to play that kind of football went out the window once Jozy went down.

We were in the group of death every team in that group had more talent than we did whats your point. No shame in being outclassed and stealing a game...which was going to happen yesterday.... ANything else to say??
Yes, you're an idiot!! I find it funny that after the Portugal game everyone was saying how Wonod's experience showed when he held possession and he looked good for time he was on but now you are basically saying he sucks. At start of WC everyone said Yedlin and Green shouldn't be there, Yedlin definitely proved everyone wrong and Green, well his shot time on the field showed he has the goods.

Someone said we had no wing play all tournament, really??? I must have been watching other US teams.

Bedoya, well he was good versus Ghana but i think his thigh was hurting more than he let on.

LD, maybe he would have scored where Wondo missed but maybe not! I don't think he would have lasted physically (by his own statements on his fitness)

Last, before wc almost everyone hated jk, during most came to say he was doing great but now we're out and their back to hating! Yes we played a lot of defense but not by choice! it wasn't a bunker down approach. the other teams made it hard for us to possess the ball. but there were many times that attacking style showed especially in the overtimes against Belgium.

futures bright for US soccer, even with LD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

He may not be "good enough" but he's still better than those who went. If you think not then I don't even know what to say because Davis, Wondo are scrap. I disliked jk before during and after but I live the team.

If I didn't know any better I would think you are Landon.

You are assessing your opinion on reputation alone...I would think he might have scored but definitively saying he would is pure conjecture. As far as changing the game around...again we will never know as he wasn't there.

Betrayed? GMAFB. If the leaders of this team speak out then the team chemistry is shot and it's 1998 all over again and the team would become cliques and would not have functioned as well as it did.

You actually believe that someone on the team publicly questioning roster selections would have been helpful? That's insane. There was enough of a fire lit by his exclusion. Clint or Tim or whoever questioning the exclusion would have torn the team apart.

It's stunning to me that none of the ridiculous Klinnsman haters will at least acknowledge that losing Altidore forced a major tactical change. The posture of the Ghana game was completely different pre- and post-Jozy injury. The weapons moving forward just weren't there. Donovan certainly wouldn't have been that guy. And before someone says "Well, it's his fault he didn't have a like for like replacement for Jozy", could Terrance Boyd really be counted on to carry the load in terms of hold up play? He may have been closer, but it was far from a sure thing.

I hate to say it but if we had Donovan no doubt we would be in the quaters. Ohh well nothing we can do now. I'm very proud how our boys played. Still devestated but life goes on. What I take the most from this WC is how much soccer has grown in this country. Idk how many people have seen the video but love How Obama was singing I Believe we will win along with others. Hope the momentum continues and grows.

Never know in this sport, if Donovan came, theres a chance we didn't make it out of the group at all.

Given that Donovan and Klinsmann clearly had issues do we really think that JK would have played him had he been on the 23 man roster? I don't think so. Maybe he gets Wondo's minutes against Portugal to run around and kill clock.

I would have used Landon and have been critical of his omission since it happened but I cannot see JK using him if he were on the team.

Has this been posted? He's a public figure and as such his performances will be criticized and rightfully so but on a personal level I feel terrible for him. This will eat away at him more than it will eat away at any of us.

Chris Wondolowski

I'm gutted to have let down everyone but especially my teammates. It's been an incredible ride but I know this will make me stronger.
