Honestly Jones has a shot of making 2018 he ran the most out of everyone. Have no idea why he did not play green more often and mix, johansson.

Nope. He'll be 36, and we will have plenty of talent in the midfield.

We could have made it to the World Cup final and the Donovan crowd would have blamed a loss on him not being there.

Before the World Cup if we didn't get out ofthe group it was due to Landon not being in the squad and now we lose to Belgium and again it's Landon. Move on.. The man admitted he wanted us to play poorly, he was no leader.

Heck of a tournaments for us. We simply aren't a top team in terms of technical ability and it caught up to us as it always will until we develop better players.

I just think we should all be happy that the Wondo debate is finally over. Some wanted him on the WC roster and others didn't. Now that the WC is over we never have to speak of Wondo in a US shirt again.

Put one of those 3 in for FJ? This isn't a video game.

Actually one of those could have been subbed in for fj and slide Cameron over to RB.

First, I'll eat crow on Green. Nam nam nam.

But it follows to ask, "If JK knew he stood out in camp, should we have used him more, over several other guys?"

Second, I'll eat crow about the 4 CBs we took - not an issue.

My ultimate thought about this whole cycle is:
Live by the Klinsmann, die by the Klinsmann.

Lots of upside for his many good gambles, team spirit, team defending and some positive play. The set piece with a short pass to Jones where we almost scored was almost brilliant.

Lots of very serious questions, too. Is he too 'visionary' and not enough 'bread & butter'?
1) No like for like swap for Altidore, when we had a pretty good, mentally ready Boyd? Johannsson cannot be blamed for his Jozy impression; everyone knew he doesn't do that. No Chandler instead of Chandler at RB, and F.Johnson elsewhere?
2) Davis? Wondolowski? Overuse of Bedoya?
3) Forcing Bradley to play out of position, instead of living or dying with Dempsey, Johannsson or Diskerud doing that job? Maybe you can't play Jones, Bradley, and Beckerman, no matter how much you want to if you want to attack. Types are types. Even if we had 3 world class DM/CM types, doesn't mean we can use them all
4) Hamstrings, etc: Altidore, Besler, Bedoya, Johnson (am I forgetting one?)
Can this really be all "bad luck + hard work + heat", or were we overtrained?
5) We needed a little more attacking & possession, even if it meant gambling from the start. 100+ minutes of team defending is too exhausting.
6) Some weird choices when talking to American media.
7) minor points: he invited some weirdo motivational speaker in camp, his dipshit son, choosing against Donovan for partly personal reasons, when surely he would have done more than Davis or Wondolowski. [note that I am not claiming that LD played his cards right, just that you have to sometimes manage some odd personalities as a coach]

If I had to pick one single thing (one which I said from the 23-man camp forward, so I'm patting my own back here), it is leaving Boyd home. How could he possibly be less of a net-positive than Wondolowski or Davis?!? (swapping him for Davis may have meant a different formation, but Dempsey and Bradley was used out of his strengths as a consequence of 'no Boyd', so how is this a problem?)

Even though I listed more problems, overall I think JK is a net positive for sure, but it would be fantastic if he learns from his mistakes, the worst of which have had him chased from other jobs. I'd say that he has the skills to do the things that none of us could do, but we educated fans are staring at his worst choices as glaringly obvious.

Ok. And when FJ goes down, one has to re-think how to approach subs. You aren't bringing in Green at that point. ArJo isn't playing as a MF and I think his game is too similar to Dempsey to play them simultaneously. Maybe you could bring in Mix and slide Cameron to RB, with MB and JJ playing in front of the back 4, but that is much more disruptive than simply bringing in Yedlin.

*Zusi .... not international quality

I agree with the rest of what you said, but on this, no. I think Zusi was used wrongly at many times. He's a RM in a 4-4-2 or 4-3-3, or even 3-5-2 or 3-4-3; he's not a winger and was made to play as such quite a bit.

Wondolowski cost usa the game I could blame jurgen but wondo is a poacher and it was his biggest opportunity in his life and blew it.

Crushed to go out, but proud of how hard our guys fought out there despite being outclassed in terms of talent, with the exception of Tim Howard who played out of his mind. DaMarcus, thank you for giving everything you have out there, I could say that about a bunch of other guys, but DMB gets so much grief and has put his body on the line for us so many times. Thanks if this is the end of the road for you in our jersey, you wore it with honor.

1) Belgium was the better team tonight so I'm not too gut wrenched by the loss. They dominated us for 90 minutes but we were oh so good after we went down 2-0. That sneaky free kick that sent Dempsey through was pure genius.

2) I'm so happy that we didn't get screwed by bad refs. There was nothing contentious about any of the goals we gave up in this world cup.

3) Timmy Howard, start building the statues now. If this is the last time we see him wearing the stars and stripes, well done.

Beasley is one of the biggest heroes we have ever had, or ever will have. Too old, too small, had to learn a new position.
Fucks given:

You have to know how hard it all was for him based on how he started out in his first games at LB. He was always a winger, and he did the job the USMNT asked of him. He never gave up in striving for his 4th WC. He beat out people whom he had no right to beat out.

I'm not saying he's the best player or best LB we've had or will have, just a hero: he stared fear and defeat in the face and gave himself for the sake of the team.

This is correct.

Until kids are out playing pick up soccer, like they do basketball, the US will not reach the top tier.

Just imagine if usa don't have Howard. It would be a historic blowout. I'm tired of watching usa get dominated most of the games, Belgium did not even do that to none of their group stage opponents. There was no reason to go OT, Wondo blew it. I bet Jozy blind folded would of made it.
