I cannot completely blame JK because he isn't the one playing. We obviously need to be able to play out the back, which we can't at this level. We need a player who can deliver that finally ball other than Bradley, who was poor for most of this competition. Klinsmann put out the best team he could with the pool he was given, yes but I feel like Mix could have done more than Bedoya or Zusi even out of position. He would at least be a better distributor. Zusi is useless if he doesn't have time to pick out a cross. He was getting picked left and right because he cannot dribble and ran out of ideas.

I agree that Zusi was really bad today. Like you mentioned, he just didn't seem to have any ideas. He was stripped constantly and with ease, and unfortunately it happened in a number of reasonably dangerous positions. JK's hands were a bit tied though with having to sub FJ so early.

Random notes:

Yedlin-seems more fit to be our first true winger than a RB. Was gassed by the end. He had probably the best crosses for the US this tournament. He might have made himself some money this WC.

Green-The finish was great, but the movement off the ball is where you really see the difference in tactical development from some of the younger US guys and those playing abroad.

Beasley-Great game today.

Gonzo-Played two excellent games back to back. Only complaint was that he went walkabout a few times and it almost bit us.

Timmy-Best performance in US history? Only Keller against Brazil is even close in my opinion.

Bradley-much better today. Definitely not the guy to play as the CAM though.

Spot on about your analysis on Green. He understands the game and understands his position. Bedoya made us too narrow on that side. Thank you for Beasley giving us some presence down that flank.

All I have to say is that Yedlin was destroying Belgiums right side all night. He destropyed Vertonghen , DeBruyne, and Hazard. Hell Hazard rarely did anything against Yedlin.

You know European teams are salivating about him. RW or RB that kid is going to be a force for the USMNT for 10 years. I guarantee offers start flowing in for him. I still think he should stay in Seattle for a couple more years though.

And you guys crucified me for saying Yedlin would be on the WC team 8 months ago.

I'm so disappointed but also hopeful at the same time.

Two years ago, it was clear this was a low in the cycle of producing players, but Klinsmann found Americans in Europe.

This team was outclassed every step of the way, but fought to win and get out of their group.

Clearly guys like Zusi and Beasley have seen their last game for the US. Now these young players can develop over the next four years.

Who knows? For the fifth most popular sport in the US, maybe we won some converts.

My thoughts are, that as soccer is a game, the goal is to entertain. In that regard they put on a brilliant display. Belgium played well and were good sports. They didn't play negatively and had very little time wasting. I hope they go far. 2016 and 2018 are sure to entertain, the US has a lot to build on. Klinsmann has been a good fit in my opinion. We will hopefully retain him until we stagnate. Wonderful representation. Of us in Brazil, I am truly grateful and appreciate their dedication to the US cause.

Meh. They weren't outclassed by Portugal.

My thoughts:

1) Jurgen is vindicated for his selection of Green. Everyone bitched about him being selected just to convince him to play for the US. A brilliant volley, with even better movement to set it up.

2) Tim Howard. My god, he did not deserve to lose that one. Made Ochoa's game against Brazil look like a walk in the park. So proud to have him as the keeper for both my national and club teams.

3) We were concerned about wing play coming into this tournament. Turns out, we were right. Zusi, Davis, and Bedoya were all pretty terrible.

4) Besler and Omar might have earned themselves a chance to play in Europe.

5) Wondo. You are a poacher. That is the sole reason you are on this 23 man squad. You cannot...CAN NOT....miss that sitter in the 93rd. The ultimate of fails.

6) Yedlin was the breakout star of the 2014 WC for the USMNT. Kid terrorized defenses, and I actually thought he was solid at the back, too. Kept Hazard pretty quiet. Kid has an insanely bright future.

7) I was ten times more heartbroken when we lost to Ghana 4 years ago. We weren't even supposed to make it out of the group this time. So proud of our boys, proud of Klinsmann, who showed he absolutely IS the right man for this job, and proud of all the US fans, new and old.

Wondolowski doesn't belong with us soccer. Biggest mistake in us soccer history. He missed the biggest goal in us soccer history. Botnstein would of made it.

I think wing play is going to be ridiculously good in this next cycle for the USMNT.

Everything that happened is what I said all along:

*Boyd > Wondo
*Donovan > Davis
*Zusi and bedoya are not international quality
* Should've subbed in Johannsson, Diskerud, and Green

Vintage Wondo miss just like he did vs. Panama in the Gold Cup. I told you he should've never been in Brazil.

Honestly Jones has a shot of making 2018 he ran the most out of everyone. Have no idea why he did not play green more often and mix, johansson.

Put one of those 3 in for FJ? This isn't a video game.
