Well, it's a done deal...I'm pretty bummed as I had really high hopes for him being our starting GK for years to come, but I'm happy for him. He's pure class on and off the pitch and is on track to be the Mexican No. 1. I was hoping we could hold on to him for another few years with loans, but I'm not surprised that someone was able to come along and lure him away...though he's 4th keeper at Tigres now instead of 3rd at FCD.

Best of luck to the kid, he's got a very high ceiling and look forward to cursing his sturdy hands when Mexico plays the US in 8-12 years.

Don't know the guy for anything, but you got some balls predicting things 8-12 years out. . .

He's been the Mexican No. 1 for just about every youth national team he's been eligible for, he's tall, quick, smart, and athletic...I'd be very surprised if he isn't part of the MMNT by the time the next WC rolls around, even if it is as a third option.

Not sure, but my guess would be that predicting success for GKs based on youth performance is even iffier than it is for field players since you have some potentially unresolved height issues plus the reading the game/spatial awareness that it takes most GKs years to develop.

I don't know, maybe this is more relevant to the US since we have other sports that the big guys can play. I guess the first 2 names that pop into my mind are Dominic Cervi & Chris Seitz. Don't know if Rimando and Guzan were on our youth teams. I imagine Howard might have been since ManU grabbed him fairly young.

The young soccer careers of Rubio Rubin and Brady Scott are headed in completely opposite directions.
