I understand Europe isn't for everyone but I am in the camp if you want to be the best you have to play the best. If it is clear said player can play in a better league but chooses not to out of comfort that doesn't really help progress the national team.

There it is in a nutshell. There are 5 leagues where the vast majority of the world's best players play. EPL, La Liga, Bundesliga, Ligue Un, and Serie A. There are a few other teams around Europe that also offer a high level, Fenherbace, Besiktas, Porto, Sporting Portugal, Benfica, Anderlecht, Ajax, Celtic etc.

Not every situation will be ideal, but as we've seen there are plenty of clubs within the above groups that provide a good fit for American players in spite of the potential challenges of integrating yourself into a new culture, learning a new language, and being away from friends/family.

The final stretch of the English league season is upon us, with several Americans on the verge of relegation with their teams.
