My lineup heading against Guatemala:

----Altidore----Wood---
Johnson-----Bradley---Nagbe-/
------Cam-------
Ream---/Brooks---Besler---/Lichaj
--------Howard-----

Subs: Guzan, Hamid, Shea, Gonzo, Chandler, Jones, Williams, Mix, Zardes, Johannsson, Agudelo, Gyau

wont be surprised to see something like this, but why is this a good option? will be fine v the likes of guatemala but there are major problems

nagbe has been pedestrian at MLS level as a wide attacker, but good centrally

ream is not an LB

with a very small dose of imagination you could use these same players (not the players id choose, but...) and put everyone in positions where they can excel...

------altidore--wood--------
----------nagbe----------
fabian---bradley--cameron---lichaj
-----ream--brooks--besler-----

JK will get credit for a 'good experiment' even though the deficiencies/problems - players out of position yet again - are completely obvious

more of the same BS in 2016 most likely

IMO Cameron needs to be deployed as a RCB....at least until one of the other CB can raise their level of play enough to claim the starting spot. Once one of the other RCBs (Alvarado, Miazga, Hedges, Gonzalez) shows that they can claim the spot than we can look at shifting Cameron to CDM.
Ultimately would like to see something along the following:

--------------Zardes----------------
---Fabian---------Nagbe--------Wood---
-------Williams---------Bradley--------
-Ream------Besler------Cameron---Yedlin--

Bench: Brooks, Alvarado/Miazga, Shea, Chandler, Morales, Lleget/Finlay, Altidore, Agudelo,

As much as I like Cameron he is edging into the realm where he MAY start declining due to age. His great versatility will keep him in the picture even if he may not be a starter. I've intentionally left out Jones & Dempsey for the simple reason I don't think they'll be in picture beyond 2016. I've left Johannsson out until he proves he's returned from his hip injury/surgery.

Some of the U-23 players who are currently fringe guys will likely work their way into consideration come 2017, but it's too early to tell which ones will be making the push. Guys like Hyndman, Morris, Pelosi, Rubio, Kiesewetter, etc....

Really like that line up actually Wood needs to be near goal everytime he is on the field.
I would be interesting to see what would work best. Dempsey/Wood or Altidore/Wood.
The 1st choice i could a lot of combination play while the second choice you can see altidore and wood complement each other skills sets. If Jurgen hasnt called Lichaj now i doubt he ever calls him. Prob will see chandler even he hasnt played and does terrible in concacaf weather. Brooks and Yedlin should be with u23 but i guess well see how much he thinks u23 is important.

The lineup is ok. I think we need to groom someone other than jozy he cant not be relied upon. Nagbe needs to be in the middle not out wide.

For the love of god will you give up on the whole 3-5-2 thing. It aint happening with Jurgen as coach. You can theorize how great it would be and thats all great. It has a 0.0000000% chance of happening in 2016.

Mine as well list a lineup of all U23 guys and say that lineup would win. Since it will never happen you cant be proven wrong right?

why is a 3-5-2 so out of the question? JK experimented with in at the beginning of the year. for those who only watch MLS... its a fairly common set-up

im am not some kind of 3-5-2 fanatic, its just the best set-up for our current personnel. a somewhat competent coach would find a way to his best players in good spots

Good lord when will you people stop playing the lineup game? You still haven't figured out that no one can logically win these arguments?

Hate on Jozy as much as you'd like he is the most accomplished striker we've got in our pool not named Dempsey. He's gotten to 30 goals for the USMNT quicker than any player other then Donovan and he's not exactly old. I'm all for giving other strikers a chance and give them minutes but the fact of the matter is that right now we still need Jozy. Wood, Morris, Agudelo, Johannsson, Rubin, etc.... may overtake Jozy as the #1 striker option but for now they aren't ready.

Jurgs tried the 3 man backline. Didn't work. Players hated it. It's not coming back.

Jozy is and has been our best striker. And he will be in 2018. His competition is Iceman (can't stay healthy for longer than 3 games in a row), Wood (get to a real league then well see), Swagadelo (a striker who doesn't score goals?), davies (did someone really just seriously suggest him?), Rubin (isn't improving), and Morris is our only hope but don't see him making the jump past Jozy in 2 years.

Jozy is much better with another striker with him. He needs to be out there. Our attack was pretty good pre world cup and before he got hurt vs Ghana.

Snipes.

I wasnt suggesting Davies start at all, i was suggesting i would rather see davies than alan gordon or wondo on the roster we need new faces in the jan camp, re jozy the stats are fuzzy he scores goals against lower ranked teams, my main beef with him is he doesnt hustle his movement doesnt open up space for others and his hold up play which he relies on slows our offense. Im not sold on wood but when he plays or morris there seems to be more movement and open spaces sure they dont hold the ball up well but everything is give and take , the point we need to develop more strikers bring jn new faces to jan camp.

In that case, I would rather take Davies over Gordon or Wondo also. I would rather not include a striker on the call up list than include Wondo or Gordon.
