fabian-------------bedoya
----ream-gonzo-cameron-----

i believe bedoya actually has (a little) experience as a RWB at nantes. chandler is obviously an option

beasley is logical replacement for fab if needed

Cameron knocked down Ronaldo, it wasn't a dirty play, which was great. It was a "hey, stop with that fancy stuff"

and then he proceeded to cross it right in front of....

OH MY GOD I CAN'T BELIEVE WE DID'NT WIN THAT GAME!!!!!!!!!!!

Let us not forget MB90's horrendous giveaway that led to the counter.....

Oh my comment wasn't a stab against Cameron, well not entirely

I was actually quite pleased how he bounced back. He played solidly the rest of the way... just ... dealing with that tie man LOL

it's whatever, we'd have proceeded through to the next round in the same shape, it boiling down to the winner of the last match.

Geoff Cameron for CDM, seeing how tehre's no pulisic type talent in the pipes for that position

Cameron more athletic than Beckerman ever was, i honestly think he has more touch, technique and range, he has about 2 years left, enough time to require his service and replace if need be, even in WC time, think Senna/Busquets

again not quality just template of functionality

But of course, if he's not getting reps at club level, it's going to have to take another Klinsmann taking heat for playing another guy "out of position"

I've been on record as saying that I wanted to see Cameron at DM. That was before I realized what a mess our defense is. Can we afford to play Cameron at any position other than RCB? For the time being I don't think so.

Cameron needs to stay at RCB. It will come down to what type of formation Klinsmann uses going forward. Personally I could see him going back to the 4-2-3-1 soon.

-------Wood-------
Fabian---Nagbe-----Bedoya
-----Morales---Bradley---

------------Howard-------

Not a bad lineup IMO.

Subs: Miazga, Besler, Chandler, Pelosi, Kitchen, Zardes, Morris, Finlay, Altidore, Johannsson, Bjorn Johnsen

Not sold on Shea. He looked awful against Costa Rica and despite playing in the midfield he was responsible for Costa Rica's goal and second best chance by completely losing his man.

I don't know what our solution is at LB as we don't have a clear solution. I would lean towards Fabian at LB if he weren't in the doghouse.

2tone, while I agree with you that a 4-2-3-1 may currently be our best formation right now. Your line-up is close to what I think we could see with a couple modifications.
1) I don't think Wood is up to playing the lone striker. He's a player that needs to be in a 2 striker system or out wide. Therefore I'd use Johannsson or Jozy as the starter.
2) IMO we need to keep Fabian as the LB for the moment. We need to settle the D line so we can tinker with the advanced positions. Therefore Shea drops to the bench (for now), and Zardes becomes the default LM.
3) Morales, Kitchen, & Williams are all fairly equal in my eyes so not apposed to mixture of the 3 getting called in.
4) Your subs list...I'd drop Pelosi and add Lleget for the moment. Pelosi has promise, but I don't think he's shown enough yet to warrant a Sr. Call up. I'm fine with Miazga, but wouldn't be angry if it's Alvarado either. At this time I consider it a coin toss between the 2.

Bench: Miazga/Alvarado, Shea, Chandler, Kitchen/Williams, Lleget, Finlay, Morris, Jozy, Wood, Howard, Hamid, Agudelo or the striker from League 1.
