Im with you, chillguy, but will JK put him there? Has Jurgen gone with Cam since the World Cup? Is he gonna ride with him v Mexico in October?

He should if GC is continually gets starts with Stoke but part of me thinks that Jurgen will stick with these youthful pairings. He seems committed to Brooks, Ventura/Gonzo.

But for the man at hand. Good for Cam. Let's hope he can keep his spot.

I am not sure its hard to believe what Jurgen says or does he is very quick in changing his thinking. He has many times said things that turned out to not happen. For example the game before Haiti I like what our back four did I think they will continue next game then he switches out the back four. If I am making callups I am looking at that the fact that Alvarado has been awful for America and Cameron has been starting for Stoke City. Alvarado isnt ready yet and he has plenty of time to get ready. Brooks not starting for Hertha today is a slight worry if he doesnt start again for a while then I dont know how you can call up Brooks as he is still very streaky at times. I also think Howard is a must start in these next couple games people forget how good he is at organizing the backline that will help immensely.

I agree regarding Howard. If you're going with the youngsters at CB you need Howard's direction to help them.

I'd love to see Cameron back in the mix at CB.

There shouldn't even be another player considered at RCB unless Cameron gets hurt. I've always seen him as a CB, he plays well there when given a chance. Athletic, smart, tough, good passer for a CB. Give him some Vela, Dos Santos and Chicharito footage to chew on for the next month. I'm riding with Cameron in the Mexico game. Preferably with Ream, but any time Brooks or Besler want to join Cameron they also have my blessing, the .02 that it's worth.

WTF Cameron inst even a top 10 CB for USA have you seen him play there with the MNT ??? Yall are insane if you want him there. Like i said a million times his best Position is at DM.. I would take him over Beckerman there.. Heck he is a better RB than CB in my opinion.

Putting aside Portugal game and one other game I'm forgetting about, he has always been pretty solid as cb. Has has done well at rb... absolutely. And he played very well at dmid allowing Bradley to get forward a couple times. Given our situation for an emergency must win game, I want a player who is playing the best in that position at the moment for the Mexico game. And to me that is Cameron hands down. If we put future aside and past mistakes aside. Currently we have a premier league starting cb. And we know brooks will get the nod at lcb. So I'm content with that picture for the Mexico game. id like to see Howard behind them but whatever. I think all of our cbs have made some big blunders at some point. But currently Cameron is our best cb. No question. How that may turn out in 3 months idk...

Cameron wont play vs Mexico unless he is amazing vs Brazil which he wont probably play.. Don't be surprised if he doesn't even make the Roster.

Id eb ok with Cameron and Brooks as our CBs vs Peru/Mexico. Cameron can be the experienced voice to help out a little.

I still think its more important to have Howard in goal than change CBs as I think he does more to help the CBs positioning than most realize. Guzan is just as good of a shot blocker/distributer but the leadership aspect isnt on the same level. Guzan really needs veteran CBs in front of him where Timmy can direct the young guys to prevent some of the dumb mistakes they make

He did well against Portugal. He had one garbage touch on a clearance, and that last goal confusion reigned as we went three at the back with Omar coming on as well. Cameron was one of our best players in the group stage. He put Asamoah Gyan completely in his pocket in game 1 as well.

I remember when Brooks got his first start it was with Cameron and Brooks stated that he felt very comfortable with Cameron.

Cameron knocked down Ronaldo, it wasn't a dirty play, which was great. It was a "hey, stop with that fancy stuff"

and then he proceeded to cross it right in front of....

OH MY GOD I CAN'T BELIEVE WE DID'NT WIN THAT GAME!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree with you re: Portugal. He was penalized for a bad clearance. It sucks, but it happens to even the best CB's. On the last minute goal, I still think it was the outside back (FJ?) that didn't track back that was the culprit. Either way, I don't see any way that our pool is deep enough to leave off an EPL quality player, even if he doesn't have any one particular position where he excels. I don't see any argument where he's not one of the best 11.

Klinsmann likes him as a CB he is starting in the EPL as a CB one of the reasons why Klinsmann didnt call him up to the gold cup was his club requested rest. Klinsmann will call him up if nothing else because of his versatility he can be in the CB mix and in the CDM mix.
