Cameron might be the most versatile player in our pool and that might be his biggest knock because he can play so many positions, it is hard to figure his real true position. Is he a DM? CB? Outside back? Definitely not the latter but for the sake of depth, I would say he best fits the national team as a CB(until one of the young guys blossom) or an outside back(out of need) but his best position in my opinion is DM.

Geoff Cameron starting for Stoke at Centerback today in their Premier League opener. Finally given a chance there.

Shawcross will be out for a few weeks too. Jurgen HAS to play him there next month if he's consistent.

Once Shawcross is back Cameron will be on the bench. Glen Johnson is their RB now.

I would like to see Birnbaum given more chances at RCB. He has been a rock for DC this summer.

@2tone- that's a good call on Birnbaum. Class player.

He could decide to play both and move Muniesa to LB.

THat will likely depend on the status of Pieters. I think it was a minor knock tho.

Have always loved GC; his value to a squad is high because he is that needed Jack of all trades that can fill in so many places. But we all know how that saying finishes. Would always be worried about him at CB in a big match (i.e. Oct 10). Who can forget 90+ v. Portugal.

Meh...Pieters isn't all that great. Muniesa can play either and if Mark thinks he's more solid with Cameron/Muniesa than Muniesa/Pieters, it wouldn't surprise me the least.

I agree that Pieters is nothing to write home about and share your hope that GC can continue to be in the first team. It just seems like both Hughes and JK prefer his versatility as an injury replacement rather than as a day-in day-out starter. Time will tell. If Cam can continue to play as well as yesterday then it will be hard to keep him outta the 11.

Pretty much guarantees cameron will play CB in the English premier league at a time when the other Centerbacks havent inspired 2 much confidence. I could definitely see Cameron making a run at the RCB position and I could see a possible pairing with Brooks in the works.

I hope Brooks doesn't have to play against any CONCACAF opponents during WC qualifying.....
