Yet I find it funny many love and say epl is the best and the country that is in, England sucks. Not even top 10 in their own continent yet all of their player's play in the epl. I think USA has a very good chance of beating England with an all domestic roster from mls.

Depends where the match is played, but if played at sea level in 70 degree weather with little humidity, England wins 8 out of 10 matches, maybe 9. Play at altitude or in the heat and humidity, England wins 6 out of 10.

What is your lineup? My England squad would be a 4-2-3-1

Hart
Johnson, Cahill, Jones, Shaw
Gerrard, Barry
Walcott, Rooney, Barkley
Sturridge

What players from the usmnt would start over the England XI? Howard and possibly MB. Anyone else?

None would because it won't be allowed. But put them 11 v 11 on the field and I would put my $ on USA. They are just names not great soccer players.

No offense, but I don't see great soccer players in MLS either outside of Bradley. I would bet an English XI from Chelsea could beat the MLS contingent USMNT if both teams were to play when they are in mid season form

Blackman
Kane Cahill, Terry, Cole
Chalobah, Loftus-Cheek
Baker, Lampard, Swift
Bamford

You still did not answer what your US team would be

Just to add an opinion here on this controversial topic. Just because you are the most popular doesnt make you the best. How many times have you seen popular items that sell yet they arent good. Obviously alot goes into how you want look at it.
Point is different taste for different people. But the matter the fact is that EPL has the most coverage over any other league ESPECIALLY here in the USA. Gives the EPL an Edge. ALso using the answer "its more competitive" doesnt work because MLS has teams in the rock bottom beaten top teams. The controversy... but why do we keep comparing and saying whats best or not just enjoy what you like?

You're right. Rooney, Sturridge, Walcott, Barkley, Gerrard, Cahill, Terry, Baines, Jagielka, etc aren't good players.

Not even Close. If you look at the teams with the most EPL players they don't do as much. Just look at all the past WC winners. 2010 Spain how many players playing in EPL ? 1 or 2 i believe. 2006 Italy how many players playing in Epl ? 0. 2002 Brazil how many players playing in Epl ? 0. 1998 France How many player playing in Epl 2 or 3. 1994 Brazil how many players playing in Epl ? 0 1990 Germany how many in Epl ? . 1986 Argentina how many playing in Epl ? 0. And i could go on and on and on. And if you see their Starting 11 the numbers drop even more. And even the runner up teams had very few Epl players. The reason why they had the most Called its because of the $$$. they pay the most so most players play there, Doesn't mean their the best. Even Brazil the favorites right now only have 6 of 23 that play in the epl, and like 3 of them won't even play. Look at the favorites for the world Cup this year, not many players that play in Epl, Germany, Argentina, Brazil, Spain, Holland, Portugal, Colombia, Chile, Uruguay, Italy.

Im glad you mention this. Because this just further prooves the point. Of the last 3 world cups (ie this generation) only once has la liga been more represented than EPL amongst the final four World Cup teams (final 4 of a world cup is a good barometer of success). And the only year was this past year when the Spain juggernaut ran through everyone. Even including 2010 bundesliga had more final 4 players than La Liga. Before 2010 the spanish league players consistently under perfomed. I cant wait to watch them underperform again

Clearly my sarcasm was lost on you. Or you're finally coming around and thinking like a sane person.

OF COURSE THEY ARE GREAT PLAYERS.

Just to follow up with this years semi finalists.
Bundesliga- 21 players
EPL- 19 players
Serie A-13 players
La Liga- 8 players

Germany accounted for 16 of the 21 German players. Think its clear that Bayern is probably the best team (got unlucky in UCL with injuries, etc) then EPL is the most competitive top to bottom (9 seperate English teams sent players to the semis)

I believe using World Cup representation as a means to determine which league is best is a bit of a stretch. The best players usually play on the best teams that also happen to have the most money. So in essence you are measuring financial clout rather than league ability.

Personally, I would look at the bottom four sides (excluding those teams docked points for administrative reasons) from the top leagues and compare them...a league is only as good as it's worst sides.

BPL: West brom, Cardiff, Fulham, Norwich
La Liga: Real Betis, Real Valladolid, Almeira, Osasuna
Bundesliga: Stuttgart, Hamburg, FC Nurnberg, Eintracht Braunschweig
Serie A: Sassuolo, Catania, Bologna, Livorno

In my own unscientific manner, it would appear to me that the Bundesliga is the best (though from a spectator standpoint I prefer the BPL)

Englands current full national team could easily beat the USMNT, making there league at least better than ours. Then all of the foreign talent in the BPL makes them top 3.

Also I agree with Know nothings theory..

On what basis could England's current national team easily beat the USMNT? I mean that is just a ridiculous statement. Did England easily beat Costa Rica? No, England were lucky to tie Costa Rica. And the USMNT is better than Costa Rica.

For me there is no such thing as the best league. The European leagues are extremely top heavy with a few elite clubs.

Does the best league mean having a few elite teams always winning?

Does the best league mean having some of the best players in the world playing in that specific league?

Does the best league mean having competitive parity?

I enjoy watching MLS, and I enjoy watching Bundesliga, EPL, the Eredivisie, the Argentine league, Serie A and Liga MX due to American players playing in those leagues. I would probably enjoy watching La Liga if there were some Americans playing in that league.

For me I watch mostly MLS. I will always support MLS over any other league.

Usa can field an all 11 mls based players and beat England with all 11 epl players. Does it mean mls is better than Epl ? No.

The final stretch of the English league season is upon us, with several Americans on the verge of relegation with their teams.
