The countries have spoken. The best league in the world is EPL. 128 players who ply there trade in england have been selected to the world cup (includes 30 man rosters where countries havent named 23 yet but not the 7 provisional players if 23 is selected). Next best league is Italy with 99. Germany with 91. Then Spain with 73. Even if you take away the home country (England selected 22 EPL, Italy 27 Serie A, Germany 20 Bundesliga, and Spain 17 La Liga) England still comes up on top. This pretty much proves like pretty much everyone but one person has been saying. Spain is a 2.5 team league (pretty much all of Real and Barca made it and a good chunk of Athletico). Only 3 teams in the whole field did not select one player from England to represent them, Costa Rica (not good enough), Italy (stay domestic), and Switzerland. Compare that with 12 teams with no La Liga representative, 8 with no bundeslida, and 10 with no Italian League men.

You can knock EPL all you want but world wide they get the respect from everywhere and continually send the most players to the world cup.

I think we're confusing "most money" with "best"...

You make a solid argument and I don't disagree with any particular point that you make, only to say that the EPL has the dough to sign more International level players from top to bottom. La Liga is notoriously bad about distributing their money among the clubs so it's no surprise that they're last.

I really think we should look at the league numbers again for teams that make it to the knockout round. I agree that the EPL has a great number of talented players, but if they are not successful in the WC, can you still say they are the best league?

I have a funny feeling that the next round might have the players playing in Italy and Germany will surpass or equal the EPL.

Not even Close. If you look at the teams with the most EPL players they don't do as much. Just look at all the past WC winners. 2010 Spain how many players playing in EPL ? 1 or 2 i believe. 2006 Italy how many players playing in Epl ? 0. 2002 Brazil how many players playing in Epl ? 0. 1998 France How many player playing in Epl 2 or 3. 1994 Brazil how many players playing in Epl ? 0 1990 Germany how many in Epl ? . 1986 Argentina how many playing in Epl ? 0. And i could go on and on and on. And if you see their Starting 11 the numbers drop even more. And even the runner up teams had very few Epl players. The reason why they had the most Called its because of the $$$. they pay the most so most players play there, Doesn't mean their the best. Even Brazil the favorites right now only have 6 of 23 that play in the epl, and like 3 of them won't even play. Look at the favorites for the world Cup this year, not many players that play in Epl, Germany, Argentina, Brazil, Spain, Holland, Portugal, Colombia, Chile, Uruguay, Italy.

The EPL is the most popular league in the world. I can guarantee you that this world cup, the number of players representing the epl will be on top of the list.

Well if Argentina, Spain or Italy, or Germany, even Brazil Win the World Cup there won't be many players representing the Epl. Popular and the best are 2 completely topics. Beckham was the Most popular But Messi was the best. Apples and Oranges.

Wrong again..... you need to get your facts straight.
Argentina: Aguero(man city)
Zabeleta(Man city)
Demichelis(Man City)
Spaine Gea (manu)
Azpilicueta(Chelsea)
Silva(man city)
Jesus Navas(man city)
Cazorla(arsenal)
Juan mata(manu)
Torres(Chelsea)
Negredo(Man city)
Germany: mertesacker(arsenal)
Ozil(arsenal)
Podolski(arsenal)
Shurle(Chelsea)
Brazil: Luis(Chelsea)
Ramires(Chelsea)
Oscar(Chelsea)
Willian(Chelsea)
Fernandino(man city)
Paulinho(totnenham)
Italy: Have epl players but didn't make the cut.

La Liga you only have three teams fighting for the title Braca, Real and athletico.
In the epl you have like Man city manu, arsenal, Liverpool, totenham, Chelsea all fighting for the league title.

The EPL is ranked number one for a reason.

That's why I said not many. And Spain hasn't released their 23 man roster, most likely a few of them will get cut. And the latest rankings had epl 3rd. You only named about 20 players, I named 5 teams that's about 130 players before cuts. I bet there are more la liga teams if you count them.

Just pointing out that if Oviedo (Everton) was not injured he most likely would have been selected for Costa Rica, so it would have been safe to say 30 out of 32.

People like to shit on the EPL for the same reason people liked to shit on the "popular kids" in grade school. If you regard yourself as high and mighty, people get irritated and try to prove you're not that special. EPL and EPL fans look at themselves as better than other leagues, rubs people the wrong way.
