Seems like they'd want to invest in someone a bit younger...though he seems to still have it when he's healthy...

Ehhhhh I'm over seeing really old guys get big transfers to MLS. I'd like to see them invest in someone a bit less known and less aged, even if you have to sacrifice some skill, which may not even be necessary.

Doesn't the galaxy already have 3 DP's. How would they be able to bring in Ferdinand?

Considering that Landon and Keane aren't getting any younger, perhaps there's some sort of wiggle room in terms of a new contract with a player/coach role? Maybe keeping the player wages at non-DP levels and then paying a subsequent coach salary? Probably rules against that, if not then I'm sure we would have heard of that loophole before.

New rule: No DPs over 30 yr old (exception for the absolute superstar players; Ronaldo etc)

I don't see how this happens. Sure LA could try to move one of their DPs to another team like Toronto did with Laba but who would they move? Keane is one of the best if not the best player in MLS, Landon is a legend who is immensely marketable. That only leaves Omar and honestly I'd rather have a 25 year old Omar over a 35 year old Ferdinand.

Even if LA wanted to trade Omar, what would the appetite around the league be for him? He's one of the best defenders in the MLS but he's on an outrageous contract. When Besler is making $200k and guys like Parkhurst and Goodson earning $300k and $342k respectively it is tough to justify Omar's whopping $1.25m guaranteed salary.

Who will be Hot 'Lanta's first big signing? I'm thinking Arthur Blank goes big for at least one of his DP's. Karim Benzema.

Rio on a DP contract would be absurd. I do like the idea of him going to Toronto. Be that veteran defender who takes Doneil Henry under his wing.

This sounds like it could be some b plan for galaxy. Let's say Omar plays and doesn't suck in the World Cup. La sells him to some euro team then uses that money on rio.

The next test for the Dooley-led revitalization of the Philippine national team kicks off soon.
