Mukwelle Akale has signed with Villarreal. Kid is an uber talented playmaker/#10. The 2015 U-20 team is not going to lack for attacking options to say the least.

Just saw the news, kind of surprising. But a really good move for him, to a club that is in a good league and a team he could realistically get into one day. Yeah hopefully he gets a look.

Wasn't he gonna go to college or stay here instead of going abroad ? I guess the offer was to good to turn down.

Villarreal must have made some type of assurances. Akale wants to play not sit.

Unless of course they screw around like Packwood and Brooks and he cant play. Great news regardless- playing ball up there in Minneapolis!

Dang, really happy for the kid. What's impressive is that he's 5'2 and yet he's not afraid to go against players bigger and older than him. Anyways, im excited for the kid.

Really I thought he was listed at 5'5"? He is listed at 5'2" for the U-17's but he has grown since then.

Oh and it's a pre-contract because he doesn't turn 18 until 2015.

Which has me thinking, it's great that he signed for Villereal but once Tab Ramos needs him to qualify for the 2017 u-20 world cup not really sure if Villereal is going to release him. Anyways, I have no idea how both Akale and Flores had no role under Richie Williams, they're both great playmakers and yet Williams stuck with Corey Baird. Oh well, the past is in the past. Congrats to the kid.

Another player from the last US U-18 team camp to really keep a watch out for is Sebastian "Bofo" Saucedo. He plays for the RSL academy, was recently awarded the Golden Boot and Golden Ball at the Generation Adidas tournament in Dallas, and I wouldn't be surprised if RSL makes him a homegrown signing very soon. I also wouldn't be surprised if some European teams come knocking on his door soon as well. Kid is electric. He can play out wide or in the hole underneath the striker.

Plus he can shoot extremely well from distance.

Yeah saw saucedo play against Stoke, he was the best player for Real in Generation tournament. Also was looking for Lennon but didn't see him playing, guessing he was still in Europe or injured.

All of our sports teams suck, so this is essentially winning the Super Bowl for our city.

Yeah I would have to say that RSL-AZ is arguably the best academy in the country right now. Just look at the prospects they are churning out: Brooks Lennon, Justen Glad, Jordan Allen, Bofo Saucedo, and a number of other talented kids in their residency Academy. The U-15-16 is sitting atop of the west standings with Bofo leading over all teams in the development Academy on 20 goals.
