Another clean sheet for Howard against Man UTD. If Everton get CL should Howard be considered top 2 or even best GK in the EPL this season? Yes there is Cech and Mignolet and Hart but they have arguably a better back line. Hopefully Howard can get to play Champions League. Thoughts? and why or why not?

Hart can go kick rocks. I agree on Mignolet and Cech though. Howard has been exceptional. Great save too against Rooney.

I've never been that impressed with hugo. Begovic is so underrated and Cech is Cech buthHoward is definitely top 10 in the world

People keep severely under-rating De Gea. And this is coming from a Toffee who loathes United. He was scapegoated in his first few seasons but has been exceptional this season. He belongs in the top 5.

And as for Howard being top 10 in the world, I absolutely don't believe that.

In no order:
Casillas
Buffon
Valdes
Sirigu
Neuer
ter Stegen
Cech
Courtois
Lloris
Akinfeev
COYB!!

Well the comparison was based only on EPL since he plays in EPL. Also some of these GK have exceptional Defender in front of goal that doesnt discredit them but that is a factor non the less.

Most of that list is accurate. But come on... Ter Stegen? Valdes? Igor Akinfeev? Put Howard in goal for Barca and no dumb mistakes anymore. You're grasping at straws Dunlopp.

Valses is better than Howard, you sure know your players if you think that's accurate.

Hart is too up and down but that's to be expected for young keepers. Courtois is the rare occasion where a young keeper is world class. Also agree that De Gea is under-rated and that he is one of the best keepers in the PL. Completely disagree that Valdes is better than Howard, the ONLY thing that Valdes beats most keepers is distribution, but as far as actual goal-keeping attributes (shot-blocking, positioning, presence in the box, etc etc) Valdes is barely above average. Ter Stegen is very promising and will eventually be a better keeper but he isn't right now....though he isn't too far behind as of now. He just needs to cut out the mental mistakes that young keepers tend to make....a la Hart but to a lesser extent. Mignolet isn't a top class keeper....very good, and would be up in the discussion for top keepers as far as shot-blocking goes, but is very timid in the box and tends to be caught in no mans land often. Peter Cech and Hugo Lloris are really the only two world class keepers in the PL.

Howard, for me, is one of the few world class players on the USMNT, in the EPL I put him in 3 just ahead of Mignolet, since Tim has more experience. Skill wise I think they're close but I still give the edge to Howard on 1v1s.

I love Howard but I think this extension is more of the Brad Friedal type extension. My guess is Everton doesn't expect him to be their starter in 2017 but the backup/cup games/early Europe games. This extension is to help him get into coaching more than anything.

Hopefully Everton hang on and Howard can be a starter in UCL next year before transitioning to a backup

The USMNT have no world class players. Howard is the only one close, you can argue for him though.

Friedel even at his ripe old age would still start for half of the EPL teams. The only reason he doesn't at Tottenham is because of Lloris. Howard won't be nearly as old as Friedel is now when his new contract is up. He could easily still be Everton's #1 into 2017 and beyond. It's totally up to him. Goalkeepers have longer careers than field players. I think it's likely that 2017 Howard will still be a better keeper than 2017 Guzan, but that's just my opinion.
