My real concern is Geoff Cameron not even playing in defense anymore. I don't know how the US can trust a guy at CB who never plays the position, or doesn't even play in defense anymore.

It's still Geoff's natural position and he's 27. He's not going to forget it.

Also he's playing the cdm role, aka beckerman role so not like that's much different than cb. If anything should help him to move the ball better from the back

Yeah...it's like riding a bike. I'm more worried about finding a partner for him in the Nats so they can get understanding of each other.

A lot of pundits and fans would argue that CB is not his natural position.

Anyways good for Shea to see some minutes. The USMNT sure could use some help at winger.

played midfield in college then bounced between defense and midfield (both attacking - wide and central - and cdm roles) for 3 and a half seasons before settling at CD midway through 2011 season.

if he is not playing CD at club and he is our best CD option it means we have poor options and likely means we have a poor central defense

within next few months there will simply be better options - players who actually play CD (unless cameron moves there also). if they are not now, besler and gonzalez will soon be better options

no, hes been playing a CAM role (and right mid).

ian darke commented that he looked like he was playing as a 2nd forward today

Playing CAM for Stoke is like playing a holding mid role for most clubs.

Klinsmann will keep Cameron as starting CB, he has shown success there. Until he makes huge mistake after huge mistake he will keep starting.

i don't agree, Stoke is fairly deep at CB and desperate for wingers, plus he needs to stay as a winger because that is where he will be utilized by JK and the USMNT setup

I hate to be the harbinger of bad news, ladies and gentlemen, but Michael Orozco will start for the US men's national team in Jacksonville.
