Out of your mind if you think Gonzalez should be starting. Watching him today, watching the Champion's League match......imagining Portugal, GER, GHA

Goodson+Besler

or

Cameron+Besler

Besler isn't good enough, gonzo either. Gooch isn't international quality anymore. Brooks is too young. Orozco, no. I'd like to see Goodson again, but sometimes Goodson is about as strong as a 12 y/o ballerina. I'd be up for seeing Parkhurst as a CB again as well. We are EXTREMELY weak at CB. If we crash and burn in the group stage, I have no doubt that it will probably come from centerback problems! At this point we can just hope that whoever klinsi decides to take has multiple games of their careers!

It seems no one is good enough. Well might as well not even go to the WC. Lets pack it in.

Nice straw man. No one is arguing we shouldn't go because our CB's suck. But we must be realistic about our options at CB, none of them are all that good. Just look at the quality of players we have in other positions and it becomes very clear that the CB position is very weak and could turnout to be a nightmare in a group against two Europeans powerhouses and the best african team! How many times in the last WC did Bocanegra and Demerit get torched!?!? Many times! And this time around we have worse center backs and harder competition.

On the bright side our quality at forward has gotten better, so maybe this time we have guys not named Landon Donovan actually knock in a few.

Agree with you Besler, Goodson, Cameron have 0 chance as well as Gonzo. All 4 will get massacred. No one is good enough apparently.

it's sad because a team is usually always built from the bottom up and it's our weakest. Poor Howard. That's why I wonder if Bocanegra would be called in for April. Not to play, but to shed some experience.

It will be interesting to see what we due to compensate for our CB situation. I think we will be compact in front of them, but the big killer will be the ball over the top right up the gut. Maybe we drop the line to reduce the space behind the D. Too bad we can't clone Cameron. I still think Cameron will wind up at CB with Besler

If Chandler can't recover in time, I'm wondering if we see open auditions at RB...Williams?...maybe FJ with Ream at LB? Sucks being so close to the WC with so many question marks in the back line.

i think it is entirely possible that 2 best CBs, and possibly a good combo

orozco-gooch

dont look now, but gooch may be approaching return to top form. ukraine was a mess and not a good barometer to measure him

orozco has quietly matured and improved quite a bit over last couple years... obviously not proven, but maybe needs a closer look

goodson is solid if not spectacular

Idk what people see in besler, goodson they aren't that good. I'll take orozco, parkhurst over them.
And I doubt we will see brooks any time soon, they got whooped 3/0..
And lastly CBS isn't our weakest position, is our wings but with green maybe it will change. If we had a good midfield we wouldn't have to worry much about our backline because we would have most of the possession. For example Argentina has a weak backline but don't have to worry much.

Starting World Cup CB's

Cameron - Gonzalez

As of late, Besler hasn't looked that good. He got burnt badly in the cruz azul game. I don't really like Cameron at RB.

Gooch is miles away... if our intent is to max bunker, he would have a fighting chance, but he'd be tragic with a high line.

Lately Fabian has been playing RB, and if green is the real deal he will be our LW.

I agree with you on Orozco. He's been solid for Puebla and looked good as a CB during the Gold Cup. He got absolutely torched as a RB in Costa Rica but I don't know why they takes him out of the conversation for CB. He's also dangerous on set pieces.
