Since this thread came back up and I was away when it came I thought I'd give my two cents. Fans chastise chandler for turning down cap tying matches with USA.
However let me ask this. If it was so bad for chandler to do this why was it ok when Aron and green did EXACTLY THE SAME THING!! Aron turned down camps and friendlies because he didn't want to file a one time switch and commit to USA. Green also turned down friendlies and youth games that would have cap tied him but that's ok?? Again not defending one guy or the other but it's funny how one guy has to earn trust and the other two are gods blessing to earth

It's not even close to the same thing. Chandler was on the team & then quit twice right before meaningful competitions when he was being counted on. Aron was all in when he made the choice to play for the USA

There is a difference between taking your time to commit and bailing on your team

Didn't he show up for the game against honduras, inSan Pedro in the tougher stage for the US. I believe that was the first game of the hex stage. And we ALL welcomed him to the lineup.

He wasn't called up AFTER that. Not because he didn't want to commit. He was committed when Klinsmann decided not to call him. Almost felt like a punishment for sucking it up after vascillating.

So lesson to Green. Don't suck =P

I see what your saying but it was really about cap tying himself to USA with no chance of turning around. He was starting to get sniffs from Germany in 2011 for being a potential backup fullback on the team. He wasnt ready to say no thanks to Germany yet. My point is all three were hesitant to commit fully and only one of them gets constantly blasted for it. And in reality we need him more than the other two. At striker we have Jozy so Aron may not play more than 20 minutes a game. Is Green an upgrade over Fab?Landon? Zusi? is it that much? Chandler, preinjury, was head and shoulders are best option at RB (now if Fab plays RB its a different story). Its just odd to me that his reasons for saying no were the same as the other two yet those two are looked upon as saviors, great gets, steals, etc. And Chandler is looked at like a stray dog

I'll never forget Chandler's very first match for the US...He looked like he was the 2nd coming and that we unearthed a future star. Sadly, it's been way too disappointing since then.

VfB Stuttgart is rumored to be interested in Timmy if FCN is relegated at Stuttgart stays up. VfB has been one of my favorite teams since the junge wilde days of Kuranyi, Hinkel, Gleb, Hildebrand and Lahm on loan. If VfB gets a yank I will be thrilled and forgive Timmy for being a dweeb the past few years.

Stuttgart has been interested in Chandler for the past few years. But I will echo MSantoine's thoughts as well. There will be other clubs in the Bundesliga and other European teams that will be interested in him, especially if he makes the USMNT 23 man WC team and performs well in Brazil.

agree thats what make me question why Fabian Johnson dedicated his future to monchengladbach before Brazil

Gladbach used to be an uninspiring team but they've been really good this year and are set to play in the Europa Cup next season. I think its a great fit for Fabian, he should get playing time on a team playing in an international competition. I would hate to see him go to a bigger club and sit the bench.

There'a a risk in waiting. Could get injured. USA could go 3 and out and get smoked then no one may want anything to do with US players. Yes he may not have maxed out but anytime a player in any sport signs an extension before they are a free agent they leave some money on the table. Its the finance side of things. Lesser potential money for more guarenteed money.

Chandler looks spry. Getting up and down the field. Always forget how much speed he has.

Theyre down 1-0 though.
