Really thought Arena got his tactics wrong from the start. He should have played a 4-2-3-1 flooding the middle of the park. Donovan underneath Keane and Ishizaki and Zardes on the wings with Juninho and Sarvas holding. It was quite clear that Juninho and Sarvas were getting outmanned in the midfield from the first 5 minutes on.

Oh well. Hopefully KC wins. I think KC has a better understanding on how to tactically approach a game against a Mexican team. Who knows maybe San Jose springs a surprise.

I can't stand Arena tactics these days. He went from being a flexible tactician in the 2002 WC to a coach that is really rigid in a system now.

Arena's tactics worked in 2002, but it's 2014 right now and his tactics are outdated. One thing I question Arena the most is player selection and subbing players onto the game when it is almost over. If you guys think Klinsmann's decision's are questionable wait till you see Arena's. The game has moved on, younger coaches like Vermes, Kries, Porter, and Petke are starting to out coach Bruce Arena.

Sarvas was definite should be bench option. Again once Beckham left all left was Sarvas and well no comparison. Ishizaki needs to play even more now kid has fight and hunger in him. Liking that signing

Juninho was fine sarvas was below average. Problem was on the wings la was getting killed. Leonardo is not that good. La should have probably kept sean franklin. Also dont understand why dunivant wasnt starting but riley was who got blown by time after time. Tactically la should have adjusted a lot sooner and leanardo is lucky gonzo was there or else tijuana could have scored more. I like bruce but I think samuel should be depth keane with donovan underneath is las best attacking formation along with iszahki and zardes on the wings.

IMO, Kreis is a notch above them all. I bet Kreis is the first to win the CCL for MLS. Hell, he and his low budget rag tag Real Squad from several years ago almost won the dang thing. Can't wait to see the type of team he puts together at NYCFC, when he'll actually have some money to play with.

This loss once again highlights the difficulties of playing a team in mid season form. LA is 3 matches into 2014 and they looked every bit of it. Not sure what the answer is for MLS on that front

There will never be an answer unfortunetly like I said several times before, mx clubs are in mid season form while MLS clubs barely start I mean sj played a massive game vs tolucaon their first game of the season just doesn't seem fair but it will always be that way and disadvantage for MLS clubs. Maybe if MLS schedules pre season friendlies with string euro clubs it will help.

Besides that Joe corona was lethal on the ball would not be surprised if he gets the start somewhere in the mid field. And gotta say I like Garza game the guy is very technical on the ball and smart. I'm sure he will get called up soon. Also in other news over 30% of youth xolos players are American from southern ca. Wow that was a big surprise, hope most choose USA and not Mexico.

Disappointing performance from LA.

Gonzo was pretty good seeing as he had to help out Leonardo every time Tijuana got the ball.

As good as the Tijuana Yanks were, gonna be tough for Klinsmann to convince their coach to release them for the Mexico friendly. CCL semis is important to them

Tactics dont mean anything if your defense can play defense. Leonardo AND Gonzo both looked terrible. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe Gonzo played a part in the first goal, and kept the seond goal onside.

Also, turf fields are tricky to play on. Pineda misjudged the bounce on the second goal and Leonardo misjudged a bounce on the thrid goal.

And like Tylercocinas mentioned, mid season form versus early season form is a factor, too.

I'd like to see Garza called up to the April friendly game. I was impressed by him

Disagree about Gonzo. Thought he had a good game.

Corona and Garza have earn a call up. Make it happen JK Impressive all game until they ran out of gas. Crazy how the tijuana players collapsed after the final whistle.

Yeah Garza is going from strength to strength. Almost as fast as Castillo, just as technically skilled, and a much better overall defender. Also he is a bit stocky which gives him more strength against taller players.

Oh and man can he whip in good crosses. There is a reason why Garza is taking Castillo's starting role.
