Ignoring the results of the Ukraine game it was another game that showed more to me the difference from a real federation that's trying to win a World Cup and one that's just interested in making talking heads happy. In the last friendly before the World Cup England gave Luke shaw his first cap. For those that don't know him he's an 18 year old who plays for Southampton. They are saying he's going to take Ashley cole's spot on the roster. Here's a team with realistic hopes of success in brazil and they are willing to turn over a key spot to an 18 year old. The mere mention of doing this for USSF you'd think you were advocating slavery.

Now before people shoot off and say it's because he's in EPL and if we had an 18 year old in the EPL we'd do the same need to realize we need to compare apples to apples. England's whole roster is comprised of EPL players. Ours is mostly mls and mx guys. We have lots if 18-21 year olds starting in mls yet we keep running out 30 something mls also rans. Until this stops we'll never take the next step.

I've been in favor of saying, screw it, Yedlin get back there at RB and do your best against Ayew, Ronaldo, Reus.
If you don't love it, leave it, USA #1

Msantoine must be english. F### england and epl. Italy, germany spain, chile, argentina, brazil, holland ect does are the teams we wish to play like not some cheap overrated country. Im happy for the mls based players they must be smiling, ready to capitilize their chance vs mexico. I would bet a domestin vs abroad game between american players our domestic players would win easily.

This is one of many problems with klinnsman !!!!! My other problem is his SUBS!

Klinsmann is more worried about winning than experimentation!

We all saw that brooks is still raw and got exposed, but whats old man onyewu doing in the starting line-up? He has almost no chance of going to brazil. Why not packwood?

Personally I would have invited Parker, Zelalam, Green, Toljan, Henley to train.

I would've called in Holmes and gboly ariyibi (it's a friendly dammit) I am really looking foward to Zardes. I like his style of play. Too bad he probably would've been better if he went the academy route in europe instead of college.

I am all for Zardes, Gil, Yedlin, Rowe, O'Neil, Schuler, McInerney, Okugo, Arriola, Holmes, Joya, Kitchen, Trapp, Klute, Hedges, Zimmerman, Salgado to get an extended run out with the USMNT. Unfortunately it won't happen until after the 2014 WC.

People need to realize that this cycle was always a transition cycle.

Who do you guys want to see on the USMNT roster for the Mexico friendly?

I am hopeful that: Gil, Yedlin, O'Neil, Rowe, Zardes, Schuler, Okugo, Arriola, Kitchen, Klute, Hedges will be on the roster.

Klinsmann needs to mix it up with that roster.

Being a transition cycle is even more of a reason to integrate some young guys now. We're setting up so a group stage loss is ok. Why not start the 2018 cycle now then? What better way to prepare some of the 2018 guys like Holmes arriola etc then with some camps and friendlys now

Klinsmann admitting that the US missed the MLS players. I think it's safe to say that his mentality towards MLS based players is changing.

To be honest I haven't seen anything special from any European based player that an MLS based player hasn't shown with the USMNT except for Johannsson.

Rimando has shown that he is every bit of a quality GK compared to Guzan and Howard.

Bradley is the best CM in the team.

Donovan is the best attacking mid in the team.

Zusi has shown that he is probably the 3rd best attacking mid/winger in the team. He has shown better than both Fabian and Bedoya at wing.

Besler and Omar are arguably the best CB's in the team.

The strikers are better from Europe.

Cam is better than Evans.

And at LB Fabian is likely.

Can't wait to see who gets the call for the Mexico friendly. Heres to hoping Rowe, Gil, Yedlin, and Zardes have fast starts in MLS.

Dempsey really needs to get back to form because I don't see Klinsmann dropping him.

To late in the process now? I have been adamant about bringing in Zardes, Arriola and Holmes. They all have special qualities to leave a positive impact on a game. But I am not the coach. I am just a fan that has seen these guys play multiple times and have recognized the talent that they all possess.

I hope Klinsmann brings in Arriola and Zardes for the Mexico friendly. Even if they don't get any minutes, at least he gets these guys in and familiar for the 2018 WC cycle.

Glad you mentioned those other teams because they do it too. Italy gave ciro immobile his first cap. Spain started Diego costa and gave him 90' in his first cap. Aron hasn't gone 90' for us yet. Also they threw thiago alcantara and his 4 caps(none since 2011)in and gave him 90'. Germany gave 20 year old Matthias ginter his 2nd cap. They all do it except us.

And why do we have to be like them? Just because they do it should it mean we do it?

Those players getting caps are truly good enough to earn them. There's time to experiment but this isn't it. Right time for everything.

I would disagree with your points here. Just because Bradley (due to the hefty contract) came back to MLS, doesnt make him home grown MLS only player.
Donovan is (always) at a different level and he chose to stay in MLS. Players always improve by playing against better competition.

By your logic Wondolowski should be starting
